Toshiba could launch tablets in 2011

Toshiba has already sold its first Android tablet, the 10-inch Toshiba Folio 100 in some parts of the world. Now DigiTimes reported that Toshiba plans to expand its tablet line in the first quarter of 2011. It is reported to be three different models, including two 10.1-inch tablets and a 11.6-inch tablet. It will supposedly with Windows 7, another Google Android Google Chrome and the third OS.

Toshiba is also reported to start 7-inch tablet on the street, but DigiTimes reports are that these devices from Toshiba phone division instead of the PC business, which suggest that they would then have at least some cell phone-like functions like on HP Pavilion DV5T.

For what it’s worth, handles Samsung mobile phone division of Samsung Galaxy tab, not the PC division – although the U.S. version of the Galaxy Tab can not make calls. So I would not hold my breath waiting for a Toshiba tablet that makes phone calls. The 7-inch model can easily come with 3G or 4G options.

New Toshiba NB500 netbook

Yesterday we reported on the Toshiba NB520, a new 10-inch netbook with a dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor and Harmon Kardon stereo speakers. But it looks like the NB520 is not the only new netbook from Toshiba. The Company also has the NB500, which introduced a similar design features, but more wallet-friendly features like on Samsung R540-11.

New Toshiba NB500 netbook

The Toshiba NB500 has the same options as its colorful cover more expensive siblings. But this model has an average netbook speakers who say, you’re likely to want a good headset if you spend a lot of time listening to music, is planned on this mini-notebook. Netbook News reports that the NB500 is also missing the opportunity to phone or other gadget with a USB port charge when the netbook is turned off.

The laptop (which probably extend the battery life a bit) and a slightly less powerful Intel Atom N450 CPU. The rest of the specifications are pretty much par for the course, including a 10.1 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b g WiFi and a 6-cell battery.

I would like to point out that I conflicting reports as to the exact specifications of the NB500 seen. Some sites say it has Harmon Kardon speakers and or a dual-core Atom N550 CPU, while others think it has a N455 CPU. Unfortunately, the press release makes things not quite clear, but I guess we will have more details (and pricing), when the netbook hits the market soon.

Either system can handle up to 2 GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive like on ASUS VW246H Monitor. A webcam, 802.11g/n Wi-Fi, Ethernet and three USB ports are common, but Toshiba is rare among netbook makers building in Bluetooth 2.1 support on the NB520 that software such as  oem software will be upgraded to be higher to 3.0. The designs break away from the past habit of Toshiba significantly different designs for new models and this time are very similar apart from Bluetooth and the speakers.

The revelations have come early, and in early 2011 in Africa, Europe and the Middle East ship. North American launch details were not forthcoming, but Toshiba has always expressed its netbooks in the area and it is on port at the same time as it launched elsewhere.
