We said we were a trend noted in 2010 in the direction of “premium” netbook, and no joke – it seems we begin our final descent with the calendar year that true ultra portable laptops are back in a big way. The $ 899 Acer Aspire 1830T-TimelineX 68U118 looks like a netbook from the outside, only slightly larger. A 11.6-inch glossy screen and a full-size keyboard is flat comfortably in a small lightweight chassis with low mass, contained an Acer similar TimelineX in miniature. A six-cell battery is hidden from the keyboard and screen between the hinges, which apply ground. With the lid is closed, the machine packs flat and easily lifted with one hand. Looks-wise, it also shares many similarities with the 11.6-inch Gateway LT3201u, particularly with regard to its keyboard and trackpad. Unfortunately this is not all good: The flat keys often do not seem as comfortable as bogs and the compressed trackpad palmrest area feels like a compromise. We want your generous keyboard was a bit pushed to fill the large unused space above, cleaning up a lot more down the valuable space. Easy and fast: Acer’s 11.6-inch TimelineX.

Inside this small TimelineX’s product information are completely upscale. An Intel Core i7 680UM dual-core ULV processor at 1.46 GHz marks the biggest change from previous models with a Core i5 and i3 ULV CPUs. A fit 500 GB hard drive and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, which we have seen in mid-range full-size notebooks. Three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, Bluetooth 3.0, and Windows 7 Ultimate round the attractive feature set like on Gateway DX4840-15 Desktop. Really, other than an optical drive is missing this 11.6-incher nothing.
However, at $ 899, the laptop is clearly a high-end option price. The real question you will have to consider whether, in view of the 1830T-68U118 as a complete laptop or just a portable tool. If the former, why not choose a well-priced 13-inch laptop? If the latter, why not save some money and get a budget dual-core machine that can still have the majority of the tasks of this laptop, though a little slower?
These are nitpicks, however. Streaming video playback, multi-tasking and everyday office tasks fly on the 1830T-68U118. It is not a “real” Core i7 with regard to the overall performance feel, but it is largely a standard-voltage Core i3. (Intel Turbo Boost technology, the CPU speed up to 2.53 GHz, but it seems the battery life. We have the benchmarks with the out-of-the-box 1.46 GHz CPU speed.) CPU-wise , this notebook complies with the Core i7 version of the Alienware M11x. The laptop also had Optimus Nvidia graphics, but this machine only has integrated Intel graphics well for simple casual games. We are more on the battery life in our full review report, but the results so far are promising. The six-cell battery not last as long as a netbook, but you should expect at least four hours of video playback solid performance from him.
