Acer is already shipping the flaw free notebooks

Acer has less than two weeks to run laptops affected by the Sandy Bridge Intel chipset error. The report from Digitimes, Acer has been shipping the leak Fri notebooks retail channels worldwide. It is the first manufacturer to be re-started shipping notebooks based Sandy Bridge after being forced to recall that it already shipped before the error was discovered.

Acer is already shipping the flaw free notebooks

Acer hard Sandy Bridge chipsets received on February 17 and was able to start shipping unaffected notebook February 23. Acer aims to ship 40 to 45 notebooks in 2011 and believes that the Intel architecture, with its faster performance and lower power consumption critical to driving sales growth.

Acer Taiwan president Scott Lin also told Digitimes that the renewed Timeline Acer’s product range will soon see a release. They are a refinement of the ultra-thin design that was a feature of the first generation of its popular timeline notebooks as well as ARCHOS 101 Tablet. Lin has also confirmed that Acer would begin with the launch of its new line of tablets in March or April in Taiwan. Overseas markets should see the models arrive in a similar timeframe.

There is a microSD card slot, a card that can support all the way up to 32GB. As for the operating system, will carry out Android 2.2 or 2.3, depending on what you want. Both versions will be greatly modified by Hanvon, though.

There is a 1.3MP camera on the front of the device, and a 5MP on the back. There is a microUSB port and a mini-HDMI port like on ARCHOS 101 Tablet. The battery, we were told, will last six hours of video playback or 8 hours to read. But they stressed that they are still estimates.

New Gigabyte GN-TB100 Dual Core Android Tablet

Back at CES Gigabyte has joined the game with the tablet S1080 featuring the Intel Atom N570 processor, capacitive touchscreen, and a suite of touch applications. As expected, they are also the Android game with the Gigabyte GN-TB100 join. It features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 capacitive touch screen display and a dual core processor, NVIDIA Tegra 2. It is not due out until July, and this is certainly not their final prototype design means it has a fairly large screen border which I suspect will shrink by the time of the tablet goes on sale.

The prototype has 1 GB of RAM, up to 32 GB of storage and 802.11b/g/n WiFi like on ARCHOS 101 Tablet, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G connectivity. It has a 5MP camera and a rear-facing 1.3MP camera on the front. And the display is an IPS screen like on , which should offer decent viewing angles.

For now the tablet running Android 2.2, but it will probably run Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb time hits the streets this summer.

ARCHOS 101 Tablet Review

The Archos 101 is the 10-inch tablet Android needed in 2010. Thin, light and affordable priced at $ 319 (8GB) and $ 365 (16GB), the Archos 101 is the first decent Android 2.2 presentation we’ve seen on a screen iPad format.

Unfortunately, Archos’ timing is terrible. The 10-inch tablets making headlines these days are all running Android 3.0 (honeycomb) and the Archos 101 is making no promises to support the latest, greatest OS from Google. Still, if you’re looking for a 10-inch tablet – you need it now, and you need it cheap – the Archos 101 is not a bad way to go.

ARCHOS 101 Tablet Review

Unlike most of the Android tablets we’ve seen in the aftermath of the iPad, the Archos 101 looks really good next tablet from Apple. Similar size at about 10.5 inches wide, 6 inches high and 0.33 inches thick, the Archos 101 feels like a real tablet – not an oversized smartphone.

The first thing you notice about the Archos 101 is how light it is. At about 16 grams, it weighs about the same as a pint of beer and is noticeably lighter than the iPad. How Archos was able to achieve this light weight is no secret, though. Instead of aluminum and glass construction used on the iPad, the Archos design and construction is mostly plastic bends easily under pressure. True, tablets are relatively fragile devices inherently, but the 101 wins no points for robustness.

Another design detail that experienced Android users will notice is the Archos 101′s lack of tactile navigation buttons. Perhaps Google’s prediction of a move of all navigation buttons to the touch screen in Android 3.0, Archos has adapted Android 2.2 with on-screen buttons for home, back, menu, run the right of the screen. The end result is really ideal for tablets, as the navigation buttons to refocus, whatever the device is held.

Archos is also a little out of Android script when it comes to connectivity. For better or worse, all of the 101 ports are crowded on the left edge of the device – and, boy, there are a lot of ports. You get standard connections for headphones, an AC adapter and a Micro USB port for syncing with a computer. Archos also throws in a mini-HDMI port for output to a TV and a standard USB host port for connecting an external keyboard or thumb drive.

ARCHOS 101 Tablet Review

Also on the Archos 101 is a front-facing camera that both video and photos can shoot at VGA resolution (640×480 pixels). Fring a video chat application is installed that will work with the camera, along with the pinhole microphone found on the same side.

A kick stand is also included, located on the back. The stand folds from the middle and folds out far enough to prop up the tablet in a lightweight (30-degree) angle, which helps with touch-screen typing, but can also be used to the tablet upright to keep videos or a photo slideshow.

So much software goes, you’re looking at a device Android 2.2, minus the comforts of their own apps from Google, including Android Marketplace, Google Mail and Maps. You get the stock Android 2.2 e-mail app and browser, along with remixed versions Archos’ of the Android music player, photo viewer and video player.

As a gesture of peace project, Archos offers its own App Store called AppsLib, for those looking to go through the motions. As we have noted in previous Archos tablet reviews, the content is just not there. It’s like a journey through a flea market. There are plenty of knockoffs and hastily produced games and demos, but the brand names are not around.

ARCHOS 101 Tablet Review

What are the interesting hardware features. The Archos 101 has no cellular connectivity or GPS, but you get 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a few rare features that can win over some. For example, you get a full-size USB port that supports attached keyboards and thumbdrives. You will not find on a high-end Android Galaxy Tab tablet and Samsung, and certainly not on the iPad. There is also a mini-HDMI port on the screen to view mirrors on a TV – perfect for playing videos or show off websites.

Of course, not all of the specs are the winners. Despite the IPAD-like size, 101-screen has a poor viewing angle, limited brightness and a 1,024 x600-pixel resolution that does not meet its high-definition video playback capabilities. Video output via an HDMI cable (not supplied) maxes out at a decent 720p HD. Another disappointment is the lack of full support for Adobe Flash 10. It’s a complaint we make about tablets twice the price of the Archos 101 – but whatever you think you will buy, it is frustrating to come across broken Flash player while browsing the web.

Conclusion

The Archos 101 Android 2.2 tablet is not the fastest, smartest and most impressive tablet we’ve seen. It’s big and cheap, and Android provides core functionality with a few bells and whistles (HDMI, USB host), but for the most part is an obsolete instrument with a limited use for Web browsing and e-mail.

New Tobii and Lenovo’s eye-controlled Laptops

Motion controlled action is all well and good, but it’s a bit tiring waving your arms around the day, is not it? What we need is something that absolutely minimal effort. Kind of like the eye-controlled laptop displaying amortized over at CeBIT by the Swedish company Tobii Technology. The prototype machine (one of 20) was built by Lenovo and simply tracks a user’s eyes to perform the required tasks. Using the “natural interface” your chicks to scroll, select and point and is designed to work with your traditional inputs.

“More than anything else, the Tobii laptop prototype is proof that our eye tracking technology is mature enough to be used in standard computer interfaces,” said Henrik Eskilsson, CEO at Tobii Technology. “To achieve a state where technology is part of the average computer, we must make it smaller and cheaper. We believe that this can be achieved in a few years with the right manufacturer. ”

The system sounds great – not only would be perfect for lazy as well as Logitech G19 Programmable Gaming Keyboard, the mass could help with personal computing for people with physical disabilities. The world’s first laptop with integrated eye control can be seen on the CeBIT in Hanover today. The exhibition runs until March 5.

Acer has his chance at the CeBIT a complete redesign of the ultra-thin notebook line, the TimelineX show. LG G-Slate tablet for $700

LG and T-Mobile has not officially announced the price for the upcoming G-Slate, retailer Mobile City but has a product page with a retail price of $ 699.99, downgraded from an MSRP of $ 799.99.

LG G-Slate tablet for $700

The G-Slate has a 8.9 inch display, a 1 GHz dual core processor, two NVIDIA Tegra and Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The tablet has an HSPA + 4G mobile broadband modem and has an HDMI output for playback of 1080p video on an external monitor as well as Logitech G19 Programmable Gaming Keyboard. But the most distinctive feature of this tablet, the two cameras on the back that allow you to shoot stereoscopic 3D video.

Do you need a special 3D glasses to view content on the device; and it is not clear whether the glass is included in the basic price. Still, at $ 699.99, the G-Slate seems a bargain compared to the $ 799.99 Motorola Xoom tablet.

Logitech G19 Programmable Gaming Keyboard Review

We were big fans of the two-color LCD-equipped Logitech’s G15 gaming keyboard, but we can not say we find that adding a color screen of the $ 200 price tag for the new G19 model warrants. Yes, it’s nice to have a full color image or even put a video on screen while you play a game (imagine watching YouTube videos during a long drive Griffin in World of Warcraft, no alt-tabbing out). With time, the G19-user developed software library will even thrive, as it did for the G15. But with relatively few color-specific applications available even a few months after its release, we can not recommend spending more than double the price of the G15 to the G19-color screen and a few design tweaks. Until the software comes around the G19 is usually a well-designed, expensive novelty for the PC gaming elite.

Logitech G19 Programmable Gaming Keyboard Review

Destruction of the screen for a moment, the G19 keyboard itself is only slightly more impressive than the latest version of the G15. The main core design offers the same crisp keystrokes, the same 12 “G” keys on the left. Like the G15, the G19 gives you three different switchable modes, so you effectively end up with 36 customizable keys, along with on-the-fly macro recording. Logitech also includes another feature of its G-series keyboards, a switch that disables the special “Windows” key late, so you do not accidentally switch on your desktop while playing with an errant key.

New for this model (apart from the color LCD) is his ability to recognize five simultaneous keystrokes. Macro-happy gamers and digital artists, in particular, should appreciate that feature, which opens a higher level of control of repetitive commands. We are also pleased to see that the G19 now has two USB 2.0 ports. The G15 is stuck with USB 1.1, not so fast. Anyone who regularly transferring large amounts of data between a computer and a portable storage device or media player will benefit from that extra bandwidth.

Other smart features include a drum-style volume above the G19′s number pad on top of which you will also find a range of easily accessible media playback controls. As before, the G19 tires in iTunes, Windows Media Center, software and other media apps. Last but not least, the new, non-LCD-related highlights is the option to choose from 16 million different colors for the backlit keys. To customize the colors of the only-thing-profile Logitech intuitive software that allows you to link three different colors to the three-mode programmable buttons for the ‘G’ keys. We wish her a special button to scroll through at least a few preset colors, though. We also wish Logitech software configuration would be to consolidate into one application. Instead you must bounce around between the G-series Profiler Key for setting up the G keys, and a separate manager app for the built-in LCD screen. This brings us finally to the color LCD.

Logitech G19 Programmable Gaming Keyboard Review

Like the G15, the G19 offers half display, presumably to minimize the number of times you switch from one game to the Windows desktop at the time, your in-box to check, or other information to get. Unlike the two-tone model of the G15, the G19 will get full color output and a larger 320×240 screen size. Logitech includes 11 different applications that you use on the screen of the G19, including a clock, a system performance monitor, an RSS reader, photo and video players, and an app that lets you play YouTube videos. All these programs have an option screen – accessible via both the LCD Manager software and via a series of screen menu controls on the keyboard – that the content source folders and other adjustments.

The G19 comes with 46 built-in support for PC games, and four different applications, including Ventrilo, the popular third-party voice chat software beloved by many PC gamers. “Support” for different titles essentially means that the screen looks different information, like statistics, character and ammunition counts. We have not tried the game on the list, many of which are outdated, but we never found the game-specific information useful while playing. We see a few options that would the LCD screen more usable, such as giving an extra inventarisatie screen or an in-game map, but we have not seen that kind of functions implemented in the handful of titles that we tried. We have, however, like Ventrilo plug-in that enables you to know who’s talking, which can be useful if you do not know anyone in your World of Warcraft guild with the voice.

Potentially more exciting is that, as with the G15, Logitech also a software development kit for the LCD of the G19 belong. It took a while for the enthusiast community to embrace the G15 kit, but once it did, all kinds of mini-apps became available for public download. We do not expect the G19, the software library to have flourished in the three months since release of the keyboard, but without a critical mass of custom applications, it is difficult for us to say what kind of programs can come from the community. You can use some of the homebrewed apps on the G19, G15, but not all of them work on the new color. We can not help but wonder what effect the high price of the G19 will have on the acceptance in the enthusiast community. If fewer people the G19, which surely will affect the amount of the collective effort behind the eventual development of software to buy.
