New WoPad WR701 Tablet

WoPAd The WR701 is a 7-inch capacitive touch screen tablet running Android 2.1 with a CPU Chip Rock. It also offers 720p video performance is on par with other basic Rokchip tablets currently on the market, but the capacitive screen makes a big difference in viewing pleasure. Responsiveness of this screen is first rate and offers an excellent viewing angle and vivid colors like on JBL Creature III Speakers.

The body of the tablet has a unique metallic finish with a full size USB and mini USB. The browsing experience is clear and fast, but it does not support, but no Flash. This tablet also has access to Android Market. Another interesting aspect that this tablet by one for $ 199 is that it is a 3000mAh battery that lasts more than 4 hours. So far, everything you want in a cheap Android tablet, the only thing missing that I would like to see is a front facing webcam.

JBL Creature III Speakers Review

When I first looked at JBL Creature III, it certainly looked stylish, but I doubted that these small speakers can not sound good. The size of the ultra-small compact satellites and the subwoofer does not do much to change this first impression. Would this be different? Fall into the stylish small but vulnerable category? Or are they the best of both worlds?

As the name implies, the Creature III is the third version of the Creature series dates from 2002. It sports an updated look that manages to be faithful to the fundamental elements that the first creature was known for. It is also a 3-piece system with many elements of the iconic, sleek modern design that still looks fresh even 8 years later.

JBL Creature III Speakers Review

The Creature III has a few notable changes worth mentioning. The subwoofer cabinet is now smaller in size, but now has a much smaller 3″ driver 15watts, compared to the previous 4-inch, 24 watt subwoofer. Even at 4″ I’m not even sure it can even be regarded as a subwoofer, as many multimedia speakers use 3-inch and 4-inch midrange drivers. The move to a smaller 3″ driver to handle the lower frequencies is not the smartest move. JBL should seriously consider itself to a 6″ sub, because this would significantly enhance the already good performance.

This would also mean a doubling of the size of the cabinet and the cone, but we agree that the performance gain is worth the sacrifice in size. I realize that this set was made with the style-conscious consumers who value small size space, but an argument against this is the fact that most subwoofers road will be hidden from view among some agency. Also gone is the ambient light in each satellite speaker. We believe this is positive, the current design compliment, especially when a white light was used. They may even added an effect where the light slowly “breathe” when the increase or decrease the volume. The absence of these lights, we believe it was a missed opportunity to add to the already great design.

The two small satellites, have exactly the same design as the subwoofer, minus the chrome accents around the driver and front-firing drivers course. With a name like “Creature” and other terms such as “Landing”, “came the Earth”, “Attack of the killer speaker” and “Sci-fi speakers” is used in the materials market is very clear that this should somehow looks like a strange alien creature from outer space. We kind of think of it as a push towards more minimalist modern art than a UFO attack. No matter how you look, it certainly stands out and looks good.

The only way we could describe, with an egg and put a black cloth over it, that’s how it looks. We really liked the stand when they built the streamlined look of the speakers remain. These make them look much bigger than they really are, minues the legs of the speaker itself is basically the size of an egg. The drivers are exposed, but sufficiently covered by protrusions in the body that protects them from shocks. The chrome element around the drivers look a little too flashy for our tastes and take what we consider to be a nice design. Perhaps a more subtle brushed metallic effect would have been better.

JBL Creature III Speakers Review

One of the features we like most was the touch volume control, a rarity on the speakers of any price class. It works really well and at first you would think they lack the level of control of the traditional volume dials, but are very close. The buttons are very solid with no creaking or wobbling sound and well integrated into the body. A very cool touch, adding to the prestige of the overall package. One thing we did not like was that it looked touch controls just as tasteless as the chrome frame. A less flashy look would have been nicer. One thing we would like to see in future version of the Creature volumes are backlit keys that would make them easier to identify in the dark.

Both satellites are connected via sub fairly thick cable, be aware that although it may disconnect the sub, the cable is permanently connected to the SATS.

The Creature III has surprised us when it came to performance. We connected it to both our Sony VAIO laptop Z12 smartphone and Nokia N900. And the boy were we surprised! Although it could easily fill a room with sound, it seems when it comes to the near field listening. With a 3-inch cone used in the subwoofer, we did not expect the system to really hit those deep notes, but it did enough base to the middle and high support, creating aa fairly uniform, full sound. The effect was even more impressive when we sub hidden behind our agency: it was a bit strange to hear that relatively open and dynamic, just two small egg-sized speakers.

With small satellites and a very small part, we did not expect audiophile quality music and the system does have its limits. These limits will only become clear over 80% of the total volume. SATS while maintaining their composure throughout the volume range, the sub showed its weakness in certain difficult passages at higher volumes. Present, where the sub will start sloppy and less defined, farmers unwanted tunes. This is not uncommon, especially when a small cone the difficult task of handling the low frequencies makes it necessary to push a lot of air in the process.

JBL Creature III Speakers Review

If the volume louder, it becomes harder to keep up the deficiencies and clearer. The satellites are surprisingly good, but if we were to nitpick, we would say it’s a little bright and stained with specific numbers, even after dialing down the treble. We think that the JBL SATS leaves as it is, keep it small oval trademark, but it is the sub to be increased. With such a low-powered, we expect the system to keep cool completely, but the top of sub gets a little hot. Nothing to worry about, but thought it worth mentioning.

Conclusion

JBL Creature III is distinguished by a unique, modern design that still looks fresh after eight years. It is a slightly modified design that looks even better than the original. The total system size is impressive low and must be perfect where space is stylishly value, or just small speakers, but we think we’re going for a smaller part wasn’tt the best move. Do we miss the cool lighting effects that we think need to return to the Creature series. We just touch the volume controls, which an impressive degree of control was provided, something we do not expect.

The treble, bass and volume are placed on the sub, if you ask us, probably the worst place to put these controls. Treble and bass are not a lot of things you’ll adhusting, but the power is hidden behind the sub volume, close to all cables. Even if you place the sub on your desk, to the power button is a bit of a stretch. Application of the sub ox the floor will prove to be more of a challenge. This check should be given to the other and were made in Cool touch controls.

But it really impressed us with his sound, excel near field listening. A system of this magnitude has limits, particularly in the bass department, but it would be difficult to get a better sound at this size to get. The JBL Creature III gets a 7.9 out of 10.

The biggest differences are that the new models are larger, have higher resolution screens, and come in more configuration options. A 4-GB model will sell for $ 399 while a 32GB option for $ 599.99 and a 64GB version for $ 699.99 be.

Samsung NF208 netbook with no OS

A few weeks ago the folks at Notebook Italia saw a netbook called the Samsung NF208 who looks exactly like the recently released Samsung NF210 – except that it comes with a dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor and ship without an operating system. Unfortunately, this model is not available in the U.S., where it is difficult to find laptops that ship without an operating system. Most come with Windows or OS X, and sometimes if you look hard enough you can find a company selling a Linux laptop to find.

Samsung NF208 netbook with no OS

The NF208, on the other hand, is a blank page to create your own operating system without paying for software that you can not use up front.

The netbook has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 2 GB of DDR memory like on Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345RD and a 320GB hard drive. It includes a 6 cell battery. SammyNetbook citra_tdz forum member reports that he picked up a Samsung NF208 in Indonesia. If you found one in another part of the world, let us know in the comments.

Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345RD Review

Back as thin and light notebooks were all the rage in 2009, a surprise contender for the most affordable thin 13-inch Toshiba laptop came from. Satellite T135, an optical drive-free laptop with an Intel Pentium or AMD dual-core CPU Neo, knew exactly provide the sort of computing power that is missing most netbooks. For everything from streaming video to general office work, it was more than enough. It was not as cheap as a netbook, but it was not as expensive as many thin laptops, either.

Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345RD Review

Toshiba’s update, the Satellite T235 is like its predecessor in many ways – perhaps too much. We can not really wrong, but because it remains one of the thinnest all-around affordable 13-inch laptops. However, the AMD Turion dual-core powered Neo II T235D-S1345, it’s the same price as many i3 Intel Core laptops.

The weight and battery life on this ultra-portable 13-incher is superior to many standard 13-inch machines, but it comes at the same cost as the performance of the other Satellite models T135 had. The T235D still lacks an optical drive, and it is no longer the thinnest machine around, in fact, for just a few hundred more, the Toshiba Portege R705-P25 offers a lighter chassis, a i3 Core processor, and a DVD-burning optical drive. However, if an all-around fine machine you are looking at a price that is reasonable, the T235D-S1345 can handle much more than a Netbook, and a more ergonomic design.

Satellite S1345-T235D is a relative lightweight in the 13-inch laptops, less than 4 pounds, has a tapered design that also gives a smaller overall profile. At first glance it looks more like a 12-inch ultraportable. From the outside, the T235D is not really different from the previous T135 Series – the same shiny plastic cover dominated – this time in a gray shaded etched pattern on the fingerprint Securities, or reduce an optional red – and a slightly bulging battery protrudes at the bottom, but hardly enough to feel intrusive.

Inside, a foreign domination of textured silver plastic surrounding the keyboard deck, the effect seems to be sticky. After some use, we have softened the draft – to a point. While Toshiba may be credited for not playing it safe, we would prefer something more subdued. Combined with the overall feel is very plastic laptop ownership, T235D tends looking for something cheap. Fortunately, the chassis construction feels quite sturdy, starting with a new keyboard.

Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345RD Review

We have criticized previous generation of satellites with Toshiba’s flat keyboards that are not feeling well, but his honor, the new order on the keyboard T235 series is a real improvement. The solid square buttons look too small at first sight, but their distance shows a surprisingly good ergonomic experience. It feels like we found the keyboard on the Toshiba NB305 Netbook Mini, blown up and put on a larger laptop. The arrow keys are even thoughtfully to compensate, and the function keys are placed in small clusters of four buttons. If there is a big improvement for the T235D, it is in those keys.

The wider than high multitouch touchpad tends to be a bit too slick, but the sensitivity is excellent, and we found under the contour curved buttons easily accessible. And textured deck have complained about is to provide comfortable friction on your palms while typing. Clever stuff, after all.

The Satellite T235D-S1345 has a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen LED-backlit display with a 1366 x 768 pixel native resolution, which is normal for screens of this size. Photos looked pretty clear and readable text, though the screen looked washed at wide viewing angles. The built-in stereo speakers emit sound through vents under the front of the soil, they are loud enough to enjoy videos, but are not suitable for music. A built-in webcam is a lot like the one on the previous T135 – OK for Web chat, but we’ve seen better.

Except for the missing optical drive and the lack of Bluetooth, the T235D-S1345 is the selection of ports, we would expect from a 13-inch laptop. Toshiba added a combo eSATA / USB 2.0 port, which is nice, like the ubiquitous bed-and-charge USB port which can power USB devices when the Satellite is sleeping or even eliminated. It turns a laptop into a big battery for your phone when traveling.

Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345RD Review

Like its predecessor, the Satellite T135D-S1324, the S1345 has a T235D-Neo AMD dual-core processor, although this time it’s slightly upgraded to a Turion dual core II Neo K625. The performance has improved a bit but not massively so. For most mainstream computing needs, these dual-core CPU does the job surprisingly well. We are also pleased to say that generally, the full-screen video streaming nicely handled, but we had better results if we avoided trying to watch HD streams. The T235D-S1345 is a much better solution for mobile computing than the single-core Atom processor or netbooks, but it also falls short of what even a basic i3 Intel Core processor can do. In terms of overall performance benchmark, but edged out the slim 11.6-inch Dell Inspiron M101z that an Athlon II Neo K325 dual-core CPU packs. Its performance is impressive for a 11.6-inch system, but it’s not far off what we would expect the budget 13-inch, either.

The included ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics are close to Intel’s integrated graphics in terms of effective performance. The video chip does definitely a boost, but all based on 3D games are barely playable. The system ran Unreal Tournament III at 13.1 frames per second at 1,200 x 768-pixel resolution. For casual games and more forgiving graphics settings, you need more viable results.

An included six-cell battery, Toshiba Satellite S1345-T235D ran for 4 hours and 28 minutes using our video playback battery drain test. That is very good and certainly above average for the 13-inch laptops, better battery life than the average 13-inch Core i3 laptop significantly. However, it is a dive of the last generation of satellites T135 battery lives, approximately one hour longer. It is also less impressive under Netbook competitors, so it depends on what category you consider the trim T235D-S1345 covered. With a low-power CPU and no optical drive, one would expect better.

Google Chrome OS update for Cr-48 notebooks

An update of Chrome OS has quietly upgraded the CR-48 to provide support for 3G over HSPA networks. The finding had the Qualcomm Gobi modem to connect more than Verizon’s EVDO network. While Hexxeh did not default, a shell command to flip HSPA and get it online through AT & T or another provider.

Google Chrome OS update for Cr-48 notebooks

Some risks exist in the raw technology. No guarantees that the cellular link will last. Owners also need to know if the carrier settings do not work automatically. The service will also be more expensive because it requires paid access, Verizon’s special deal for the CR-48 delivers 100 MB 3G each month and has reduced tariffs to raise the hood.

The update hints that Google may begin sending the CR-48 to other countries. The first deliveries to the media and other industry luminaries were limited to the U.S. as the 3G would not have worked at all in other countries. Google has only a limited batch and supply could be held in the country and supply requirements like on Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345RD. Chrome OS notebooks for the general public are not due until mid 2011.
