HP has teamed up with ski equipment manufacturer Rossignol on two special edition notebooks. Based on the dv6 they sport unique designs complement the styling of the Rossignol ski equipment they are named, styled with the Attraxion VIII Echo for women and the men’s S7 Freeride. It also includes exclusive content such as wallpaper and a matching envelope.

The special designs will be printed with soy-and water-based inks and made with recycled materials. The two otherwise the same technical specifications, including a 15.6-inch screen, oem software, a Core i5 processor like on Samsung P2250 22-Inch Monitor, a 500GB 7200-rpm hard drive and Altec Lansing speakers.

As expected, Sharp has begun selling its line of Galapagos tablets in Japan. Peter von Netbook News reports that not only Sharp’s new 5.5 inch and 10.8 inch tablet available at computer and electronics stores – but you can find them in convenience stores and can (though they do not actually appear on the stock those sites are only available for order.

Both tablets run Google’s Android operating system, but Sharp is driving the Galapagos line of tablets as a multimedia device as a full-featured Android tablets. The company will store digital books, magazines, videos and other materials by content.

UMID could never be a household name, but the company has some of the most interesting mini-folding machine in recent years, including the mbook line of devices. Samsung is a big name in the LCD displays, be it flashy HDTVs or more functional and personal computer monitors. Today we have named a 22-inch model from Samsung Samsung P2250, so let’s see what’s in store.

Design and Features

At the risk of such an ad voice-over, I must say that all the Samsung monitors now come with Samsung Touch of Color accents the red – a red streak visible on the bottom. The bezel of this model is also the usual glossy black, married to a transparent, hard plastic layer on the top. This layer is a bit of stick from the sides, which is the front view of transparent borders, which look pretty cool. The bottom plate has touch-sensitive controls on the right half, while the Samsung logo is printed in the middle – a total it looks very clean and sober. These buttons are lit with red illuminated text below, once one is touched by them. This last aspect is the design of icing on the cake, so get them good marks for the aesthetics of a nice feature.

The monitor is pretty well built, with tilting capabilities, but does not swivel, plus the connection between the plate and stand quite firm, with just a little wiggle. We were disappointed with the connecting section, there is no HDMI, only DVI-D (with HDCP) and VGA. There are no other bells and whistles in the monitor: no speakers, no headphones outputs, no cameras, etc.

There are guidelines, such as text, film, feature, Dynamic Contrast, play, etc., but it’s still ritual for us to use the Custom setting, and start with the handy display each Mate-test software suite.

First, we check only, grayscale, which in our case were not such a good result. At least in dark extremes, as blacks were weak. Our darkest grays of a no, they were all merged into one another, so the test fails. If we increase the brightness up it will fade, as usual, we must say that the contrast is not so spectacular.

The colors on the other hand, were much more evident, at least in their degree of saturation. It is not bang on course for graphic designers, but very balanced, things do not look cartoony. There was not much of white flowers also, even at the highest contrast rating.

In areas with detail and clarity, we were impressed with the text and minute hands pictures look extremely accurate. We played Wolverine and Prototype on this monitor to see movement. Again, there was not much to complain or too fussy. The occasional moiring and stairs were not present, but tolerable for us.

Conclusion

The monitor will cost a little high, see 11,500. Comparatively get 22-inch TN panel for around 10K, plus think it does not have HDMI or other sweets for us, it’s a bit expensive. The blacks are weak, but color accuracy is good. Sharpness and motion impress, but especially when it comes down, it is the external aesthetics that make a killing here. The monitor is really sexy. Thus, if the above appeals buffet, you can go there, especially if you get it at a bargain price.

Dell is preparing to launch the Latitude E6520 and Latitude business notebooks, according to a 6420 blog post by Eric G Software engineer or oem software.
