Dual-Screen Windows tablet from Taiji

OEM Taiji Electronics has some waves earlier in the year with a tablet that was hidden a Bluetooth keyboard for easy text entry, now the company has a new pair of slate, one borrows followed by which the dual-screen form factor of the Toshiba Libretto W100 and the Acer Iconia. The Taiji T10A and his unnamed dual-display clamshell comrades were shown at the conference in mid-November Elexcon current VIA processors.

The T10A has a 10.1-inch touchscreen, VIA C7-M 1.2GHz processor, graphics and VX700 32GB SSD. Also packs a front-facing webcam and runs Windows 7, no word on whether the resistive or capacitive touchscreen like on HP Pavilion DV5T.

What is more interesting clamshell, we know even less about their hardware, but it apparently has twin 8-inch touchscreen and an undetermined VIA CPU. This makes it more in line with the libretto W100 in size than the Iconia, but could give the low-power CPU is more battery life than the Toshiba, the usability, which was undermined by his sub-3 hour running times. No word on when – or if – we can expect to get either tablet on the market.

Toshiba could launch tablets in 2011

Toshiba has already sold its first Android tablet, the 10-inch Toshiba Folio 100 in some parts of the world. Now DigiTimes reported that Toshiba plans to expand its tablet line in the first quarter of 2011. It is reported to be three different models, including two 10.1-inch tablets and a 11.6-inch tablet. It will supposedly with Windows 7, another Google Android Google Chrome and the third OS.

Toshiba is also reported to start 7-inch tablet on the street, but DigiTimes reports are that these devices from Toshiba phone division instead of the PC business, which suggest that they would then have at least some cell phone-like functions like on HP Pavilion DV5T.

For what it’s worth, handles Samsung mobile phone division of Samsung Galaxy tab, not the PC division – although the U.S. version of the Galaxy Tab can not make calls. So I would not hold my breath waiting for a Toshiba tablet that makes phone calls. The 7-inch model can easily come with 3G or 4G options.

OLPC Tablet Coming Soon

Back in May was One Laptop Per Child founder Nicholas Negroponte to start the organization chart, a touchscreen tablet version of the already ambitious XO laptop. The plan was that the tablet from the CES 2011 launch for less than $ 100. Negroponte announced this week that make the organization is not capable of this event. “We will miss CES by 45 days,” he said in an interview. “We have something in mid-February.”

OLPC Tablet Coming Soon

The problem, he said, is the inability of the right material for the education unit found. “The topic was finding had an unbreakable material – which can not be made of plastic, by the way, there may be some flavor of glass,” he said.

And while OLPC is based on forthcoming concentrated tablet, the original XO Laptop will not go away any time soon. “The current laptop such as HP Pavilion DV5T and the tablet will coexist at least for some time,” Negroponte told a reporter. “It is unclear whether we tactile tablet version of the keyboard will be sufficient for you to use it as a general purpose computer.”

Google has developed the first laptop to the Chrome OS operating system introduced. It’s not really intended for the general public, but the new CR-48 is a 12-inch notebook will be available as part of a pilot program for developers and other testers. While the CR-48 should not be a consumer laptop, it gives us an idea of what Google expects from its hardware partners.

Google announces Chrome OS developer notebook

The notebook has a 12.1 inch display like on HP Pavilion DV5T, full-size keyboard and large Clickpad (a touchpad with integrated action to take separate mouse buttons). It is an integrated Qualcomm Gobi 3G wireless chip. In the U.S., users will be able to use Cr-48 on wireless network of Verizon, but it should work with a wide range of mobile operators around the globe. The notebook also has dual-band 802.11n WiFi and a webcam. Google claims it is more than 8 hours running time, or 8 hours standby time. Google is accepting applications from users in the pilot program by the test want to take the CR-48.

There are not many details about the Acer and chrome models, apart from the fact that they will be powered by Intel chips … but it is not surprising, given the operating system and hardware still in development. HP Pavilion dv5t

What do you do when almost every major notebook manufacturer has imitated the design of your best-selling consumer laptop? You give a whole new look and add compelling new features, including an accelerometer to protect data in a tumble dryer. And with the next generation Intel Centrino 2 processor and chipset and Nvidia’s latest graphics card under the hood, supports the HP Pavilion dv5t its sweet aesthetics with some serious horsepower. HP Pavilion DV5T Review

HP Pavilion DV5T Review

After nearly two years of sticking with the same design, HP is making several moves to spice up their Pavilion line. The HP Pavilion dv5t is part of a large group of HP consumer laptops (all the Pavilion ones, as well as the Compaq Presario notebook) to receive an interior chrome treatment. If in these new models the convergence between a laptop and a home theater experience otherwise apparent, its new “frameless” widescreen and built-in TV tuner should drive that point home. And now that Intel has finally launched its latest Centrino 2 platform, the dv5t is one of the first in a complete performance tune-up.

HP Pavilion DV5T Review

This was not an Extreme Makeover, by all means. The dv5t still slightly overweight at 6.3 pounds, while the differences between him and the previous Pavilions are barely discernible from the outside. The LED-backlit HP logo was about the only adjustment made to the lid, and it is similar to the approach the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Penryn) took with its logo. The glossy black finish, laminated with a decorative pattern process called in-mold decoration-resembles that of the previous system, the HP Pavilion dv9500t. I would not change a scene I enjoyed.

This is not the first time I’ve seen Pavilion all chromed up. The HP convertible tablet, was the first with a bright metallic above the keyboard, palm rest area trim, and touch pad. The new look has a better job of hiding fingerprints and smudges than a black polish, although against a fluorescent light can be reflected glare of a distraction. The surface of the keyboard feels smoother because of the chromium, but not slippery, so that typing experience is very pleasant. The mouse buttons are slightly more stable than in the previous Pavilion model are so weak pops detectable but not annoying.

The “frameless” part of the 15.4-inch widescreen is a glossy treatment extending past the scene and into the black edges, creating a uniform look. HP introduced the idea in the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, while it perfected in the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510, complete with a drop-down hinge. As always, HP offers several options for screen resolution. In this configuration, the made-1 0.050 1680-pixel screen video and photos really pop. The touch-sensitive buttons, volume bar, mute button, and DVD playback controls are backed by LEDs and the cinematic appeal. The Altec Lansing speakers sounded very good, although HP should match the five-speaker system (with subwoofer) on the Lenovo Y510.

HP Pavilion DV5T Review

For all laptops that took out their built-in TV tuner, like the Toshiba Qosmio G45, I glad to see HP led in the opposite direction. Instead of the lame ExpressCard TV tuners that HP used to the latest pavilions, including the dv5t offer an option for a built-in ATSC (HD) tuners have. You must attach a separate coaxial dongle and antenna, but they had no problems receiving over the air, high-definition channels at my Manhattan location.

The feature set is probably one of the best in the industry. Like other Pavilions, the dv5t comes with four USB ports-one of which is an eSATA/USB combo port. eSATA is an alternative interface for connecting an external device such as a hard disk, and it is four times faster than USB 2.0! Although this particular configuration is not dv5t with a Blu-ray burners come, can be added for additional money. An option for a high-definition drive explains why an HDMI output that allows you to stream digital content to a larger display, a standard feature. The rest of the goodies-the 1.3-megapixel webcam, a FireWire port, and are 5-in-1 card reader, what you expect from a Pavilion laptop.

Part of the new Centrino 2 platform, code-named Montevina, the dv5t is one of the newest Penryn processors. The 2.53-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 has the support for the new 1066-MHz front-side bus (FSB) and also on the Sony VAIO VGN-FW198UH can be found. The dv5t’s SYSmark Overall score behind the VAIO fallen by 4 percent. The Sony has 4GB of memory, compared with the dv5t’s 2GB, which could change for the small difference. But in general, exceeded the dv5t’s SYSmark scores to those of the Dell Studio 15 and the Apple 15-inch (Penryn), which both had previously Penryn models.

HP Pavilion DV5T Review

Other tests, such as video encoding and Cinebench R10 proved that the new Centrino 2 platform is not invincible. The Apple 15-inch (Penryn), dv5t with a higher clocked processor, better grades than those on these two tests off while the MacBook Pro Photoshop CS3 scores only a second behind which were the two Centrino 2 laptops. The dv5t comes with a 55-Wh (six-cell) battery, which emptied in 3 hours 12 minutes, testing after the MobileMark 2007. Like its predecessors, it is a 12-cell option, though these batteries is not backward compatible in the.

Conversion of an entire line is a big deal if you’re HP. The HP Pavilion dv5t does not receive the kind of makeover you’d expect from the number one PC retailer, but the revision of certain aspects of the construction was necessary to update current HP owners. You can also view a new frameless widescreen and built-in HDTV tuner functions to check the home theater enthusiasts clamoring that should have dv5t. The dv5t The big difference is that it is one of the first notebooks available on Intel’s latest Centrino 2 platform. Nevertheless, the improvements are modest. There is some performance gains, but you will notice that there is excellent battery life to get through a 12-cell battery, not the platform itself.
