The WeTab is an interesting German tablet with oem software with a 11.6-inch display and a custom Linux operating system to Linux MeeGo with a custom user interface including a sidebar that you can navigate through applications and Web pages and widgets on the home screen can be performed based. The widgets can be anything from an application launcher shows a dynamic application, the interactive elements of an application or Web site to prevent an RSS feed, calendar, YouTube videos and other content.

WeTab OS is available now

While the WeTab is not available for purchase in the U.S., the team did behind the tray of developer tools for creating widgets released for the platform – and the entire operating system that can download and install in a virtual machine as well as Samsung RF510-S01.

Because the operating system is based on MeeGo, you can use the basic MeeGo Linux development tools to write applications for the platform. But the UI WeTab one of the most unique implementations MeeGo is I have seen. While the WeTab OS image that the company makes off is available now designed to run in a virtual machine, I would not be surprised if some users figured out how to use the SDK tools to WeTab that are on a third party pills.

Asus teases Eee Pad EP71, EP101, EP102, EP121 tablets

Asus to unveil a new line of Tablet PCs next week at CES. The company teased us with a video of the 12.1-inch EP121 a few days to a few close-ups followed by various tablets. But the company did something a little sneaky – one day after uploading the video teaser for the new company Ep121 Pad Eee, Asus, a second version of the video uploaded with chalk drawings of four tablets at the end.

Asus teases Eee Pad EP71, EP101, EP102, EP121 tablets

Since we already knew, the EP121, a tablet with a large display and an (optional?) Keyboard docking station. The company is also set to launch a line of small tablets, and now we have a few names.

The Eee Pad EP102 appears to have a pull-out keyboard. The video shows a short animation of the machine turns slate in a machine with a screen and a physical keyboard. The EP102, on the other hand, seems to have a detachable keyboard, similar to the larger EP121. If Asus has stuck with his usual naming conventions, the EP10x models have 10-inch displays like on Samsung RF510-S01.

The EP71 does not seem any type of keyboard, but unlike the others it has a pin that seem to indicate that this model could be a resistive display, active digitizer, or one of those newfangled capacitive display would have to support a pin (or perhaps only a special capacitive stylus). It will probably be a 7-inch screen.

Samsung RF510-S01 Review

If you are on the market at an affordable mainstream notebook PCs, which is about your multimedia and productivity workload plow, set the Samsung RF510-S01 at the top of the list. You get i5 Core processing power, high-speed USB 3.0 connectivity and superior graphics performance. Just do not expect a stunning looking machine, the RF510 is glossy black lid is plain looking and require constant attention to remove unsightly fingerprints and smudges.

The RF510-S01-design can not break any new ground, but you will not be ashamed to wear it. A silver Samsung logo at the left side of the lid, the body is chrome plated with two sturdy hinges attached. The chassis weighs 5.7 pounds and is thus exactly half the weight class for 15-inch laptops. (MSI expensive same, but lighter, FX600 weighed in at 5.3 pounds but was the Lenovo ThinkPad Y560D a relatively heavy, tipping the scales at 6.1 kg.)

Samsung RF510-S01

The 15.6-inch display uses LED-backlit and has a maximum resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, the standard at 15-inch notebooks in this price range. The brightly lit screen provides a good off-angle viewing and delivers a crisp HD (720p) image. We saw no signs of motion blur or ghosting while you was our 720p test clip, The Magic of Flight and color quality is very good as well.

The keyboard sports a brushed aluminum cover two color design, the area around the keyboard is silver, and the palm rest is brown. We wish Samsung had the same metallic finish used on the cover, because it feels quite stable and wiping. The Chiclet keyboard is firm and react, and it features a dedicated number pad on the right. The touchpad is slightly recessed and has a nice, smooth surface that provides excellent cursor control. The dual mouse buttons are wide and an audible click, but not loud enough to be very annoying. Above the keyboard and the right are volume up, down, and mute as well as a Wi-Fi on/off button and power switch. (Media-player controls would have been nice, but at least Samsung makes it easy for the volume, without being able to use a function-key combination.)

The RF510 has a good range of interfaces, including a surprise: USB 3.0. On the left side of the chassis are two USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI video outputs, an Ethernet port and two audio jacks. Over on the right side is a DVD burner and two USB 3.0 ports. The latter, when used with compatible devices are capable of transfer rates of up to 5 Gbps. This corresponds to a theoretical ten-fold increase over USB 2.0. (The faster ports are distinguished by blue USB ports, while the USB 2.0 ports, use black.) A four-format flash card reader located on the lower front edge of the notebook is located, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam is embedded in the – Display of the upper panel. The standard edition webcam is good for quick snapshots and utilitarian Skyping, but too coarse for photos you want to keep.

An Intel Core i5-460M processor at 2.53 GHz, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, supports the RF510-S01 offers a lot of horsepower. On our PCMark Vantage test, which is the general system performance measures, the head of the RF510 score of 6445 both the Lenovo ThinkPad Y560D’s 6343 and the outrageously expensive HP EliteBook 8540w 6328 by almost 100 points.

to do our Cinebench 10 test exercises each processor core on a 3D model and is a good measure of raw CPU power. On it, scored the RF510-S01 7177, more than 1,000 points above the average for a mainstream notebook, but about 2,000 points lower than the overclocked MSI GT660R, which was equipped with a Core i7 CPU. The RF510-S01 completed our iTunes (music) and Windows Media Encoder (Video) media encoding tests in 3 minutes and 5 seconds and 4:17, respectively. (For these tests, we convert 11 storage MP3s into AAC format in iTunes and Windows Media Encoder, encode a test-standard 3-minute video clip.) Both times, more than a full minute faster than the mainstream laptop average which means This laptop will have no trouble importing and encoding movies convert MP3, AAC and other music files.

The RF510 is equipped with mid-tier mobile Nvidia GPU, the GeForce GT 330M. While it is not what you call a killer gaming chip, the 330M GT led admirably on our real world gaming benchmarks. Running at its 1,366 x 768 native resolution, it was the RF510 a respectable 63.2 frames per second (fps) on our Company of Heroes DirectX 9 gaming test, which is a bit slower than the more expensive MSI GT660R (171fps) and Lenovo IdeaPad Y560D (77.3fps), but still a very playable frame rate. It has 23.9fps on the DirectX 10 version of the same test, you want to call back on some effects may even enjoy playing the games of this caliber means.

In our tests with the game Far Cry 2 (one more demanding than Title Company of Heroes), the RF510 churned out 23.7fps in DirectX 9 mode and 27.4fps in DX10 mode, both respectable scores for a mainstream notebook PCs in this Price range class. Also, if you choose again a bit about the impact that you will be able to enjoy relatively smooth video playback. Similarly, the RF510 led very well on our synthetic 3DMark06 benchmark test with dozens of 7168 to its native resolution and 7974 at 1024 x 768 The tested average for mainstream notebooks crack we do not have 5000 on this test either resolution.

Where RF510-S01 stumbles a bit of battery life. It only took 2 hours and 4 minutes on our demanding battery-rundown test, where we loop a DVD movie playback, available until the battery. That is shy about a half hour of the average battery life for a mainstream notebook, but in fairness, it edge, press the other notebooks here in comparison of which most do not, the 2-hour mark.

Samsung RF510-S01

The 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium is charged on the 500 GB hard drive, there are several handy Samsung utilities, including Easy File Share. (It helps files to another PC, the assignment of a four-digit number to authenticate two systems connecting wirelessly. You do not have to mess with network settings.) You also get Samsung Recovery Solution software (which you simply by Backup and restore procedures) and Easy Content share (DLNA application that will stream videos, photos and music files on your HDTV). A few bloatware apps do take some hard drive space, including several games and a 60-day trial of Norton Internet Security.

Despite its relatively short battery life and bland exterior design, the Samsung RF510 an excellent pep-for-the-dollar election is among the mainstream notebooks. Not only are you strong productivity and multimedia performance, but you can also enjoy some of today’s 3D gaming titles, without too much eye candy. And you’ll get at a price fair for most households.
