Not much has changed in netbooks since next-gen Atom N450 processor hit the scene changed at the beginning of 2010, which is why the emergence of dual-core Atom netbooks merits some interest. Single-core netbooks have always lacked the oomph to attack tasks as a full-size laptop can, especially when it comes to multitasking. The dual-core Atom N550 CPU in the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM-PU17 offers light performance improvements without the additional burden battery life or your wallet, this configuration will cost about $ 40 more than an otherwise similar single-core Asus Eee PC 1015PED with Atom N455 CPU.

The 11.6-inch netbook with AMD Athlon dual-core neo-faster CPUs, but this affordable CPU configuration is the more expensive dual-core 12-inch Asus Eee PC with its nuclear 1215N D525, a run for their money. However, you get what you pay for: this netbook lack of high-end features – HD screen, HD Broadcom accelerator, ion, or Nvidia graphics – put them in a non-premium category.

How many of the previous Eee PC from Asus Netbooks 1015PEM has a sleek, teardrop-shaped side profile, wider at the back and tapers to a point at the nose. It is largely the same tapered/curved design we have on most Asus Eee PCs in the last year or so, have seen especially the 1005PEB, and it is difficult to apply to get excited about another step-like structure. Smooth surface finish on the back cover and keyboard cover guard against fingerprints, but still show some ambient glow. The Eee PC line in red, blue, white and black is, our model had an attractive red copper-colored light brown. The back cover is rather thick and entire unit feels solid, even a little tight, but the compact form felt easy to stow. Having no protruding edges or batteries other than a slight bump on the rear underside is a plus.

The raised edge to edge Chiclet keyboard has responded well to flex and no keys, but smaller than full-size keyboard felt tight after a while. In particular, feeling the tiny wrist from too small for a simple tap round. A large multi-touch trackpad is made of the same comfortable satin-smooth lid/palm rest material, and is defined by a thin strip of silver on the left and right, a slight change from previous Eee PC models. The trackpad felt wider and more beautiful than previous models, even with our thumb on the pad while typing more land. A thin plastic button bar below is a bit small but has a solid click.

Above the keyboard a little plastic power button sits on the right side, and a Quick Start button Side-by-side is a Wi-Fi on/off button on the left. Asus Express Gate Cloud Quick-Start-OS is a stripped down environment with its own browser, photo app, and a few other features. Despite its faster boot time, we doubt whether many people with his performance and limited opportunities will be satisfied, most will simply choose to boot Windows and keep the Eee PC in sleep mode between sessions. The 10.1-inch LED display on the mat 1015PEM has a maximum resolution of 1,152 x864 pixels, is the highly non-standard and produces a pinched look. The resolution can be tapped up to 1,024 x600 – together for netbooks. We have shows 1366 x 768 10-inch netbook noticed more often, but there are no such luck here. Photos and videos looked crisp and perspective were appropriate for the size and hinge limits of Asus’ cover, but web pages feel tight in this limited resolution.

Stereo speakers, located on the bottom front edge of the Eee PC 1015PEM offered louder than average audio actually sounded pretty good for video ads. You are not extravagant musical, but they are definitely good enough for most needs.

Asus chose to add a physical lens cover slider to VGA Webcam, supposedly to make people afraid to protect recorded unknowingly. It seems a little silly and more panic by some people think your webcam is broken when there are only really covered. Regardless, the image quality for basic video chat, but its contrasting dark silhouettes created. Cyberlink YouCam software on the system that can select from a pull-down software widget on the desktop and links to various Asus cloud storage services, and links to start included.

Netbooks rarely surprised when it regards to connections and features, and the Asus Eee PC does not break form. Three USB 2.0 ports and an SD card slot round off the offer rather, there is only a VGA output for connecting to an external screen. The Eee PC works via Bluetooth and is, in fact, Bluetooth 3.0-compatible.

The real question here is “how to run the dual core atom compared with a normal, old single-core?” The speed of the Atom N550 CPU, contain very similar to its single-core brethren, there is no significant dent in each individual tasks such as streaming video or converting MP3s. This is not a panacea for silky-smooth video on a netbook. Hulu and Netflix viewed full screen had the same choppy-yet-slightly-watchable video that we experienced on the 1015P. Most daily tasks are exactly the same as they do on other netbook. The difference is in multitasking: If you like to download and web surfing and streaming audio and other things to do all at once, the 1015PEM feel less Chuggy.

We have to make improvements in our multitasking benchmark test, but the results are still far from what can quickly make laptops. Dual-core CPUs, as the more expensive 11.6-inch AMD Athlon Neo-systems are produced faster overall results, but the N550 held with the dual-core Atom CPU to the more expensive D525 Asus 1215N. The N550 is an incremental update to an incremental update of the cost. Is it worth it? We would say yes, as long as you keep your expectations in check.

The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM six-cell battery lasted 5 hours and 33 minutes on our video playback battery drain test, production, excellent results for a dual-core CPU machine. It is reassuring to know that the dual-core capabilities are not significantly drain battery life unless serious multitasking operating.

Support through a 24-7 toll-free telephone line on the Internet and an online knowledge base and driver downloads are available on its website. It’s a little hard to track down phone numbers and model numbers, but we finally found what we were looking for.
