New ASUS UL80Jt-A1 Laptop announced
The ASUS UL80Jt-A1 notebook has a magnificent view 14-inch version with switchable graphics and a new Intel Core processor i3. During the lifetime of the battery is not as impressive as the UL80Vt model from last year, more power and updated Nvidia graphics Optimus should hold more than enough for most consumers happy.
First impressions of the UL80Jt-A1 are large, with the model with a lid made of brushed metal, matte plastic deck and look elegant in an understated way. The build quality feels really solid on this machine, but it’s come at a price of around 4.8. While this is not overly difficult, it is certainly not the lightest or thinnest 14-inch machine on the market.
The ASUS UL80Jt-A1 has a chiclet keyboard, also known as “an island keyboard and have the majority of the new laptop versions. It is a little too much flex in the keyboard action, however, and the single mouse button – while it looks very cool – feels stiff and unresponsive. The touchpad design is also worth mentioning with a textured surface that is seamlessly integrated into the palm rest area and looks very stylish indeed.
The 14-inch screen comes with a healthy, if not outstanding resolution of 1366×768, and while it big head, viewing angles are average at best looks like. Connectivity is a fairly standard affair, with a 5-in-1 card reader, HDMI (like in new Toshiba Satellite L645-S4032), VGA, Ethernet, and all on offer. However, the lack of assistance for the new USB 3.0 standard has not gone unnoticed.
The most important way of UL80Jt-A1 differs from the UL80Vt is in terms of shear force with a new Intel Core processor and Nvidia i3 Optimus new technology. This laptop will automatically switch between discrete and integrated graphics, which is an especially handy feature for players who are on the road. Battery life takes a hit from all this new power, however, and the amazing 9 hours endurance of its predecessor has led to a still respectable 6 and a little has been reduced.Overall, the new ASUS UL80Jt-A1 an amazing piece of kit and offers plenty of performance and functionality at a good price-performance ratio. During the lifetime of the battery is not as impressive as the UL80Jt, it is still far above the average rating of the competition, and the extra power a pretty good pay-off.
