Gigabyte convertible netbook gets an Atom N550

While officially the availability of the new Intel chipset yesterday, there aren’ta lot of shipping products with the new chip damn. But for some reason seems to be a hot spot for Australia at the moment.

started yesterday an updated Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 with a dual-core Atom chip ads for pre-order from the Australian retailers. Now to save an Australian computer sales of the new Gigabyte T1005M is complete with a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom N550 Dual-Core processor like on Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5066.

The Gigabyte T1005M appears an updated version of the Gigabyte T1000 Touch series of banknotes. These are convertible netbooks, which can either work in a notebook or netbook mode. Just flip the screen around and you can keep the computer as a tablet. Or it can on a desktop, laptop or other flat surface and use the keyboard and touchpad to get input on your can.

The Gigabyte has some killer T1005M specifications, including a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 capacitive touch-screen display, 2 GB DDR3 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Home Premium. It supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, HSDPA and has a built-in antenna (for an optional HSDPA module). You also get a USB 3.0 port and two ESAA/USB ports.

The computer has a 6-cell, 41Whr, 7650mAh battery, measures 10.4″ x 8.4″ x 1.6″ and 3.3 pounds of weight.

But all these features do not come cheap. The Gigabyte T1005M sold for $ 905 Australian, or about $ 798. It is probably a bit cheaper if and when the computer makes the U.S. coast, but I would not expect to sell it cheaper than $ 600.
