Dell shows off the Inspiron M101z
Dell Inspiron M101z have just a 11.6-inch mobile computer that sits somewhere between a laptop and a netbook unleashed. With a range of AMD processors, a wide range of color selection and a very small price tag indeed – this is a real contender in the M101z mini-laptop market and new to laptop reviews.
The Inspiron M101z is as configurable as much more expensive Dell models and as Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17, with a number of options, including various designs, colors, CPUs, operating systems and different levels of RAM. The basic specification is an AMD 1.7 GHz single-core processor, but a little deeper into the bag, you will provide dual-core performance. Some of the very vivid color options include Peacock Blue Tomato Red, Pink and Promise.
The quality of the building M101z provides a standard Dell affair with a handsome design that is confident without being expensive. Dell say, six hours of battery life for this one, and while they are in the habit of exaggerating their claims, it seems a lot of effort has gone into the battery performance. The M101z was tested WiFi and web browsing runs for about four hours, which is probably a better representation of the real world use.
The screen offers a resolution of 1366 x 768, a very respectable number for a Dell laptop of this size in this price class. Connectivity is also very well featured, with 3 x USB 2.0, an impressive 1.7-card reader and HDMI standard, VGA and Ethernet ports.
Because this laptop is so new, a number of options are not yet available, with Dell promises a nine-cell battery and an unlocked internal 3G modem within a year. The base configuration comes with a 250GB hard drive, 2GB or RAM, and Windows 7 Home Basic, but larger hard drives, more memory and Windows Home Premium, all on offer for the right price.
With prices from only $ 449, the Inspiron M101z certainly turn a lot of heads in the budget mini-laptop market, but be careful because not sure these options add up quickly. Even a moderately specced model is expected to cost more like $ 699, which has some very attractive features of this view is not quite as rosy colored. The Dell Inspiron M101z is now available in the U.S., and around the world available in the coming months.
