Dell Inspiron iM501R-2272MRB Review
The Dell Inspiron iM501R-2272MRB a 15.6in AMD Phenom Quad-Core II laptop that is suitable as an everyday machine, or even as a budget gaming rig. It has a lot of CPU power, above average amount of RAM and a reasonably fast graphics card. The design of the iM501R-2272MRB is the same as the Dell Inspiron 15R-N5010, and while it looks good and is comfortable to use, we wish it was a little less shiny.
Specifications and Performance
The notebook runs VISION Ultimate AMD platform, a 1.6 GHz AMD Phenom Quad-Core II-P920 comprises mobile CPU and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550V graphics card. You also get a 500 GB hard drive, 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM, and 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. In our video-encoding test, where we encode a DVD to a 1.5GB Xvid file, the laptop recorded a time of 1hr 33min. This is 23min slower than the Intel Core i5-430-based Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 in the same test reached. The core i5 430 is a dual-core CPU with Hyper-Threading and a clock speed of 2.26 GHz. Given the Phenom running at 1.6 GHz only P920 II, the M501R is the result of a good one, it is 3 minutes faster than the HP Pavilion DV6-3010AX. Battery life
