Fujitsu LifeBook U820

Intel has a lot of work to do to with the Atom processor before it is ready to power next-gen mobile devices. Crippled for speed, it has very little useful application for anyone who uses a computer for something more than simple e-mail, Web, media and time management.

Of course, if it describes your needs for the next flight to Tahiti, or if you can find most laptops overkill if you only have in the library, nuclear – and the brand-new nuclear powered LifeBook U820 Mini-Notebook Fujitsu-study – might be just right. The U820 is a fun, eye-catching Fujitsu laptop, but a big disappointment for serious business users and techies. Fujitsu LifeBook U820 Review

Small and ultra portable

By waterworks

This review is from: Fujitsu LifeBook U820 Mini-Notebook

I am a student who purchased this, because my main laptop is too heavy to carry to school and back.

Pros:

- Tiny. It feels almost weightless to carry, which is wonderful if you have many books there are toting.

- Touch screen is great for writing and note taking. I can write almost normally and comfortably for a long time with a pen. I do my homework on them and make written notes, instead, typed during class.

- Long battery life. Right now, with two batteries and a 91% will be charge with a balanced mode told me, I will 10 hours and 43 minutes. I have never been tested, but the battery life is very good.

- Voice activation: It's just cool that being able to tell your computer to open a file, instead of clicking really. Takes some getting used to, thought.

- Has video and audio recording. Ideal for recording meetings, lectures, etc.

- I like the interface. There are many opportunities to interact with the computer. As I mentioned before, it has voice recognition software, you can write with a pen, use the right mouse button on a pen. There are scroll down button, zoom buttons to the right and left mouse button and the mouse itself (with the left mouse button). It comes with an adapter for Ethernet and LAN connection to a projector. There is also the orientation of the screen rotate when you want to write in portrait or landscape mode.

- Runs quiet: I once optimized (see below) and if the fans do not run, the computer is very quiet, is it I like a lot.

Cons:

- Small-Screen: This is both a good thing and a bad thing. I took this computer because it had less than other Fujitsu I was tempted. The larger screens meant your hand resting on the screen and made writing difficult or even impossible. With a small screen, my fingers are long enough about it without writing the screen. I have also noticed that my hand rests on a book helps. But I had to adjust some settings to bigger things. I'm 22 with 20-20 vision and I had to know more, to enlarge or crank up the font size on my web browser. 5.6 inches is definitely the limits of human comfort.

- Small-keyboard: I can give to them. But I have relatively small hands. Even with smaller hands, the keyboard is tricky, because things were moved around for space sake. I have had him for about ten days now and only now can get up some speed in typing, I - like now for instance. It is feasible, but if you have big hands or have a much larger model might be more appropriate.

- Stylus: the one that comes with the computer that is too small to write. I bought some spare needle from Frys and they work great. I definitely recommend their own people thought, unless you do not mind your hand cramps like crazy.

- Optimize Vista: Vista is not the best operating system for this small computer, and it took me several days running with the laptop to get an efficient speed. It is never as fast as my $ 3000 Dell laptop running, but it is perfect for notes, e-mail scanning to write homework, surfing and net. Do not expect to be able to play a lot of hardcore games.

Recommendations:

- Is it gently with him, especially the swivel screen. It is tiny and not able to withstand a lot of strength.

- I was glad that I have the two batteries, they have served me well.

- Read the user manual and operation manual. I spent the first few days of frustration, because I have not read, I thought I was above instructions. Some of the features were very new to me (such as Voice Activation) and I needed the tutorials for it.

In summary, I recommended him to all my college friends, the small computers themselves need to take notes that in a very portable and touch screen are. This computer was one of the few I found that audio visual really all I wanted to cooperate - Touch screen, small, long battery life, records. It is perfect for certain subgroups of students as computer owner. In hindsight, I believe, a 7inch screen would have been perfect, but c'est la vie. I love it and I take it with me everywhere.
