Very Nice

I did a little research and this laptop seemed pretty much looks from those expected to buy and also by the few who have already received about them. I also saw that it seemed most of the original broadcast came with 1333MHz DDR3 RAM instead of 1066. I opened mine and it has 1333. A supply problem, I think. Very nice test, it is a $ 150 + Upgrade on some websites.
I installed Borderlands and it seemed like a dog at first, then I realized I had not plugged the power supply, it is automatically a low-power mode when on battery only (of course), and it makes a big difference. Once I plugged in all settings to High except for anti-aliasing at 4 instead of 16 and native resolution at 1920x1080, it ran a little slow. Frame rate was usually around 30 Fine for most games but not a FPS. was at 1280x720 frame rate in the 50's. I played about an hour and it was running very hot, so I stopped for a while. I bought this notebook an older Dell laptop I had to replace because I burned out the VID card on the Dell, so I was a bit concerned, perhaps unnecessarily.
The keyboard is good, but the buttons are really slippery, could use a kind of texture or concave shape. They are illuminated, the very useful (hit Fn + F4 when you first get it were me off).
Could you use a USB in the back (I like to use a cooling pad), but it has 2 on each side near the front, which is nice.
Lights on the lid are annoying. The side off in battery mode, then I look for in a setting to turn it off all the time. The logo of light in the center of the cover never goes out.
I like the physical switch for WLAN and Bluetooth.
No dead pixels, I will close us for 30 days, but I hope not have to RMA. Nice guarantees on this thing, definitely a plus. Watch out, if you buy an ASUS from Best Buy - they do not try to honor all standard ASUS warranty, I think the accident. Since Best Buy, you will sell their own insurance for $ 179
The thing I do not like most about this laptop is the screen size. Not the resolution, but the actual physical size. It is about 4:03 inch panel on the sides and bottom, and almost a quarter inch at the top. The notebook also makes visually less attractive as it is bulky and thick. The large top bezel is probably because of the webcam, which I will never use. The screen could easily be 16 + inches, with lots of high resolution would help. At 1920x1080 on a laptop, you need all the size, you can get. Text at 100% tiny, but I will be delivered to 125%, so that each smart on their part. I use it primarily for painting in Photoshop and Painter then the high resolution is great. The attempt to have someone show text on the screen is difficult, if not they can read, unless they are very close.
Another thing I did not like was 40 + GB pre-installed software. Why all this crap would someone want is beyond me. I wanted to wipe and reinstall, but it is the Quick-Start-OS, which I need to look and see if that will wipe and install it if any new problems. I have pretty much wiped always plan a new computer, but most people would not so that is a factor.
I just saw my backpack and mouse, some others not me.
Oh yeah, it is not black, even the darkest part of the cover is a dark blue.
