PC version of a MacBook

By Loomer (PA)

This review is for: Acer Aspire Timeline AS4810TZ-4474

When I first unboxed it this was the first thing that came to mind. This is a PC version of the Apple MacBook. The extremely thin and very well built, feeling solid. Not to forget the chicklet keyboard. It cries MAC! It would have been really nice if the buttons are backlit, but oh well.

My first concern was with this laptop weather or not the 1.3-processor Pentium DC wanted to get the job done for Windows 7. I am here to say that it works. In fact, it's going very well. All apps that I have raised, (admitedly none that would be considered "severe") were without delay or problems what-so-ever run.

The trade-off for the slower, the Pentium Dual-Core processor, is that you get eight full hours of usage time. It also comes as announced. Infact, I get closer to 9 hours of time from the mine on a full charge.

The wireless antenna is extremely strong using a technology called ConnectUp. Not quite sure what it is but it rules! Have got a strong signal from all over my house, where my previous laptop would struggle.

The screen is a backlit LED display, which is beautiful. The HDMI port is a nice add-on, but I can not even imagine if I ever connect it to my TV because the ad is on the laptop itself is so amazing.

The speakers are very good, and even feel a little of the surround sound.

I would not recommend this computer for anyone looking for a hardcore gaming unit. Although I have not tested the processor on a game, I would think it would be suffocating. But I am not a PC gamer, so that it fits my needs quite well.

Well worth the investment.
