This review will be for the ThinkPad X301, the successor to the X300. The ThinkPad X300 is less than one year old and Lenovo have a lot of work into it the first time were not translated into so many changes, as the name implies, the X301 is essentially an update of the original notebook.

As you may have thought that, given the quick turn-around time is very similar to the X301, the X300. From the outside they look almost identical, which is definitely a good thing. The X301 is matte black, as you would expect from a (non-SL series) ThinkPad and it is as thin as ever. If you is not like the ThinkPad functional, boxy design you could warm up to this one because it is only 0.9 inch thick and weighs about 3.4 pounds but with an optical drive and a 13.3-inch display (1440×900). Lenovo is not with the optical drive but the X301 also has a stop, full-sized keyboard, a webcam, and dual cursor controls, just to name a few. This keyboard is the ThinkPad’s specialty, which is as good as ever, possibly with a more crispy means taking action than before. The build quality rivals the best sub-notebooks on the market and is very impressive given the thin notebook display.
It is inside the machine, the X301 so interesting, but it does. The first change from the X300 to the X301 is the use of a new processor, the 1.4GHz SU9400. This processor is physically smaller than other chips in its class and reduces power consumption and heat generation to a minimum. Another big change from the X300 is soon you’ll be able to have a 128GB SSD instead of the usual 64 GB model. The drives are not quite ready, and they are an expensive upgrade (as was whether the 64GB model is not expensive enough), but if you need storage, and price is not a problem that is about as good as it gets to be. Other functions within the box contained a/g/n WLAN, Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, 2GB DDR3 RAM, GPS, and AT & T mobile broadband.

Exterior connections on the X301 has three USB ports, mic/speakers, VGA-out, Display Port and Ethernet. The VGA port is black (blue instead of the normal), so that the system is during the games and DisplayPort a little ahead of the curve, it is looking forward a nice feature. In one or two years you will be glad that it is there, plus it is small enough that it has no problem fitting on the thin system. The notebook has two obvious features missing though, an expansion port (for example, Express Card) and a card reader, something that most people would prefer more than a third USB port.
When it comes to the use of the X301, this system is as solid as I remembered it. The keyboard is always room to (see probably my favorite ThinkPad keyboard implementation, and the materials, some nice upgrades over a “normal” ThinkPads as the X200 does. This, the soft-touch material is back on the palm rests and the LCD cover. The backlit ThinkVantage Power are keys back, and there are three LEDs on the LCD lid, so you know when the system is running on battery, sleeping, or plugged into the wall. Very little has changed in the X300, but very little needed to be changed. The system is thin, but it is extremely useful and hardly and sacrifices were made (apart from price), which was one reason the X300 is one such success.

Connectivity will receive a special bonus on the X301. There are two standard ways of AT & T and another for Verizon, but for $ 75 you Gobi, which can both EVDO and HSPA upgrade handles. It is a nice bonus, but most people happy with just one carrier.
In performance terms, the X301 steps forward incrementally, contains his 45-nm processor and updated platform to a new WiFi module and new integrated graphics. While the general working, these changes are not noticeable, but what is important is that it works perfectly Vista Business and general economic downturn operation was free. The SU9400 is a powerful processor that stays cool, and with its economical power consumption, ideal for a system like this appropriate. The biggest performance problem that users will see is a slow boat that took our test system also has a minute, even with its SSD. The PCMark Vantage score was 3240, with the strongest areas for storage and productivity. This figure marks a nice step further than its predecessor.

The X301 uses a different style battery (a disk form) than the other Thinkpads, which limits size and expandability. There are two ways a 3-cell and a 6-cell, none of which bring the full-X301 battery life. So with the price of the system as high as it is, battery life is generally less than something like the X200. With the 6-cell battery, the backlight at 50%, WiFi on and do general desktop work, the X301 will generally last for just over three hours. Users who need more battery life, can the optical drive for a battery, the bay adds some weight should swap, but good for a little more than two hours, closer to three if you cut back on what you do.
When delivering a verdict on the X301, I have my thoughts about the X300 echo: This is an impressive system that demonstrates an ideal balance of mobility and features. There is no question that it is expensive, but go as a dream notebook, this is a decidedly practical to the page. This 13.3-inch display looks very good, but it also allows for multitasking, something that you can not see more on the systems under 3.5 pounds mark. In addition, you get an optical drive, a feature that is not as crucial as it once was, but remains important for some users. The X301 is perhaps not as flashy as some other executive notebooks, but has more features than most of them, and the price, while prohibitive, includes a 64GB SSD, so we know why it is high. The battery life could be better, but it’s acceptable when you are packing the six cells. There are smaller, thinner and lighter systems available today, but few can the whole package that we agreed to see in the X301.
