Asus Eee PC T101MT-EU17 Review
The Asus Eee PC T101MT is a netbook with a 10.1 inch (1024 x 600) with LED-backlit Resistive Multi-Touch Screen. In contrast to the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3T, Asus has chosen a resistive panel, rather than capacitive. This means you need to get a little pressure on the screen pinching to do work.
The Asus Eee PC T101MT has to register a 256-pressure sensor accurately gesture-based commands input by the user. Asus also make an ergonomic pen and handwriting software bundled on PenWrite technology in the package to get the most from its features tray.
Users can choose between a familiar, standard select Windows 7 mode when it as a clamshell netbook or a Windows-touch mode when swung round and folded into a tablet. Switching between two different interfaces, “on the fly to fit what you are done with large icons that it does make easy to find and start programs.
Inside is an Intel Atom N450 CPU and either 1 or 2 GB of DDR2 RAM. Storage is a 160GB or 320GB (both come with a 500 GB online storage thrown listed for one year), depending on whether you splurge for Windows 7 or Windows 7 Starter Home Premium.

Other features include an ergonomic keyboard chiclet, 802.11b g n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, an integrated 0.3 megapixel Webcam, HD Audio Codec, three USB 2.0 ports and one SDXC card (up to 32GB). The chiclet keyboard has very little flex, almost all the buttons are large enough for touch input, with the exception of the rather small right shift key.
Asus claims a battery life of 6.5 hours from the Li-polymer battery, work with the ASUS Super Hybrid Engine power management technology, which will not be so bad, but we have seen better from other manufacturers.
The build quality is robust and to depend on the screen seems durable for the long-term use. On the down side, the U.S. models with Windows 7 Starter Edition, which you lack the multi-touch ability to reach the hardware. To this you need an upgrade of at least Home Premium. This will make it necessary for the RAM to the maximum of the Netbook Upgrade – 2GB.
The Asus Eee PC T101MT-EU17 is an interesting alternative to Apple IPAD. While the netbook is heavy and bulky, it’s about the same price and offers the advantages of a physical keyboard and run your Windows programs out of the gate.
