Use a Laptops to Sell Web Design Services

Use a Laptops to Sell Web Design Services

If you run web design business you know how difficult it is now to get new customers. More people are jumping on this boat thinking that they can call themselves web designers. If you have found your company struggling to compete with these so-called web designers you need to do more and think more.

Assuming you are more of a business person than web designer if you are running a business. You have one big advantage over most web designers, and that is you are better at selling your web design service than them. Most web designers are creative people, also known as the right-brain people and they are not trained in business or selling. Now knowing this you can approach people with a laptop and present your work to them! Most web designers won’t do this because they afraid of being rejected, in fact, most people won’t do this! So if you can get over this, you will be the only few people in this group.

Selling your web design service with a laptop is so much easier and more likely to succeed. Why? Because you can present your ideas quickly and professionally. You can show people how their website could look like and work; maybe mockup a page or two so they can click around and see the things in action. Once they are hooked, which they will be if you’ve done your research properly, they will know you are the one – somebody who knows what he’s doing. This works extremely well when you have already put in the effort in making a good presentation and an initial mockup of their website.

With a laptop, you can also show them some examples of your work quickly. Wireless internet is so cheap, which means you can show your clients the work you have done and being able to talk about them as the clients look through them. This is something that not many people can say no to. Of course you need to make sure the client is actually interested in having a website built before approaching them.

By using a laptop in the initial meeting you can win more businesses and save time. You will cut down the needs for many email and phone conversations. Prepare everything in the laptop, give the clients a tour and ask for the sale right away, don’t wait till he/she get back to the office and send you the email.

Rocketfish laptop case

Rocketfish laptop case

The Rocketfish Laptop Case is not all that stylish, but it is super useful since it from the inside out, double click and can be folded, like a portable laptop desk. It is up to 15.4-inch laptop for just $ 49.99, which will not break the bank.

It would be great for car trips and vacations. To take your laptop out of the bag, fold the case and you’re good to go. If they only added a little style to it, more people might be interested at that price.

Choosing a Good Laptop for Freelance Web Designers

Choosing a Good Laptop for Freelance Web Designers

If you are a freelance web designer you’ll probably need a laptop some point in your business. An investment in laptop is the best option if you don’t have a computer yet. Today, majority of the laptops are powerful enough to run industry standard design software like Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop. So you won’t have to worry about the performance issue. There are many advantages of buying a laptop over desktop. One of such is the ability to do your work in places like Starbucks. If you are a freelance web designer you know there are times when you just need to go somewhere other your office to spark up those creative juice. And with a laptop you can work a park, a café or your own home. Being able to do this is so beneficial for web designers.

Now the question is how do you choose the right laptop for you? There are hundreds, if not thousands of difference laptops out there in the market, choosing the right one can require some knowledge. Well.. the very first thing is to decide how much you can afford to spend. Once you have this mind you can then filter out the ones that are outside your budget. You can then start look for the specs that suits your requirement the most. The screen would be a good place to start. How often do you think you will take the laptop outside of your house/office? If the answer is a lot you need to get something light and portable, 13 – 15 inch would be perfect in this case. Anything smaller you will find it hard to work with because design software have many panels and you need high resolution. The next component would the CPU. Since most of the laptops are now Duo-core you should be fine with any of them, just stick to Intel brand. Next would be the memory. Design software can use up a lot of memory, especially when you’re working on large Photoshop file that has hundreds of layers. The more the better, so try to get at least 4GB. This will give you enough room to open a few applications at once. Hard drive would be the third component you need to pay some attention to. This is like a storage room – the bigger it is the more files you can store. Most web designers have their own collections of images, fonts, vectors etc. These can take up a lot of space, so make sure you have at least 300GB. These three components are the most important ones for web designers. The rest are just bonuses and for personal use mostly, and you don’t have to focus too much on them.

CLEVO M81P netbook spotted at FCC

CLEVO M81P netbook spotted at FCC

Everybody’s favorite casual Netbook advertising agency, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission documents (PDF link) to a new 10-inch mini-laptop from published CLEVO context. The upcoming CLEVO M81P packs HSPA wireless broadband capabilities, which means that there is a good chance we’ll see this little guy sold by a U.S. Telekom. But this is pretty much the only thing that makes it interesting.

In most cases, the computer has in the past year data, including a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N170 CPU, 10.1 inch and 1024 x 600 pixel display. It measures 10.7″ x 7.4″ x 0.77 “, which makes him, at one of the thinnest 10-inch netbooks, though.

The M81P CLEVO supports up to 2 GB of RAM and a 2.5 “hard drive. It is interesting that the manual recommends, in particular, 5,400 rpm with a drive, not a faster 7,200 rpm hard drive.

The screen is a 10-inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display. It sports Ethernet, 802.11b g WiFi, and a VGA output. And the netbook has a 6-cell battery that Viewsonic says is good for up to 6 hours.

Like the Chrysler option that accomplishes the feat by sharing a 3G connection via a local Wi-Fi hotspot shares that connection with the passengers and the radius in a 150-foot.

Service costs $ 29 per month and requires a dealer to install, but the router itself will cost $ 199 to a two-year contract, if purchased before the end of the year. It usually costs $ 399.
