Viewsonic VNB102 Netbook Hands-On

Feeling nostalgic for the initial batch netbooks? You know, from design, small keyboards with the wrong key and short battery life? Then you’re in luck! Viewsonic, a manufacturer of LCD TVs, projectors and other consumer electronics, released its first netbook, which will VNB102 Viewbook, a mass of mediocrity.

Like other 10-inch netbooks that came out last year, offers the VNB102 an Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB of RAM and a 160 GB, 5400 RPM hard drive. As the Averatec HS-105 announced yesterday, this little boy is running Windows 7 Starter Edition (at least that of this year.) But one wonders why ViewSonic is not for the newer Atom processor N450 Pine Trail wait.

The barrel-shaped hinge on this VNB102 to remember to original ASUS Eee PC 701 and Lenovo S10 and from 2008 onwards. Similarly, the keyboard is one of the smallest we’ve seen over the past year, and the shrunken right shift key, out of place, too reminded us of keyboards, we would rather forget, like the original on the Lenovo S10. We want that there are two separate mouse buttons, but they are too small.

Are the typical three USB ports, VGA, headphone and microphone and Ethernet, and a 3-in-1 card reader.

The VNB102 performed approximately the same as every other netbook: the score of 841 in Geekbench was 8 points above the average 3DMark06 score of 139 and 20 points below average.

Endurance is another issue: the 6-cell battery on the VNB102 only lasted 4 hours and 46 minutes, about an hour and a half shorter than the average netbook. This is the halfway point of the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE-P. Although netbooks with Ion graphics processors and larger screens comparable battery life, you have have a problem.

Viewsonic VNB102 sells for $ 399. This is more expensive than many netbooks, including the Asus Eee PC1005PE, which offers a better design, more comfortable keyboard, and much, much longer battery life.

There is also no indication of the battery, but one of the features of the N450′s low power consumption, so that I would be surprised if the Lifebook MH380 the same inferior batteries, as some earlier Fujitsu Netbook will.

HP Mini 210 more details leaked

They know that we hear new HP Mini 210 netbook ever so little? Here is a whole lot more.

  • eCost gone and created a number of product pages for the laptop, with prices from $ 321.99 to $ 398.99
  • Logichp has posted a series of promotional shots of the upcoming Netbook

It is difficult to say with certainty, but it looks like the lid is less brilliant than the HP Mini 110 lid. And the touchpad has been completely redesigned. Instead of the buttons on the left and right side of the touchpad, HP has integrated the keys in the touch area to save space while bringing the buttons at the bottom of the touchpad. Hopefully, HP will implement less frustrating than using the Dell Inspiron Mini 10v touchpad.

After the product pages eCost each model with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU, Intel GMA 3150 graphics are, and a 10.1 inch is flush glass display, “which means, I think the glass on the display cover from one edge of the lid to the other. 802.11b g n The computers also have 1 GB of RAM, wireless, and run Windows 7 Starter Edition. Some models have 160GB hard drives, while others have 250GB.

The laptops will be available in black, silver, red and blue. Of course, not really any eCost HP Min 210 pcs in stock at the moment. And I would not be surprised if these product pages will soon be demolished. But it seems pretty clear that HP is working on something new.

Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook Review

Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook Review

The colorful 2100 sure looks like a portable playground. For the outside of the housing is the same familiar rubber kickball in the schoolyard day, with subtle branding on the lid and on the shady side. Meanwhile, the spine of the Netbook (the back of the battery) a small plastic strips to adjust the machine – you know how to include a “This Netbook …” day. Well, while the coating is similar to a ball, you should not take this thing around. “Ruggedized” does not exactly robust. The 2100 provides, in any case feels quite robust and for the tasks at hand, but it is not OLPC.

Its built specifically for education – and the ability to take a beating from a classroom of hyperactive children – the 2100 is probably the biggest plus point. Health conscious parents is the fact that you can screen as according to Dell, through regular means, and an anti-microbial keyboard option prevents the spread of germs. And I’m sure the teachers are happy that Dell a strip of light on the lid has subsided, indicating Wi-Fi activity (so you can see if the children are from Hulu and YouTube still in class I distracted suppose). What if the clown want to carry it, the netbook weighs about 2.9 kilograms and 10.4 Measures by 7.3 by 5.7 inches. A little hard to carry, perhaps, but probably handle a lot more than a stack of school books home.

Truly, this machine is not for children. It is for Geeky fathers who want to justify another tech purchases and perhaps it is loans to their children during the day. A bare-bones box with Ubuntu sells for $ 369 sporting event in the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 512 MB RAM and a 16GB solid-state drive. The model that we will run fully loaded Windows XP on 1 GB of RAM (expandable to 2GB) and a 80GB hard drive. I know that education is expensive, but you are ready to fall, many ducats netbook of your child?

Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook Review

If you’re wondering why the price so high, the simple resistor, 10.1-inch touchscreen is the most likely cause. This means that the screen is the 2100 the largest, cleanest function. They are that the 1024-to-576-pixel panel has some good and some bad aspects.

First, the good: Indoors the screen looks nice enough, and as long as it does not exactly razor sharp, your child will probably not complain. In our use, the colors were muted slightly. Streaming video from Hulu ran at a steady clip without a major gaffe. And it is undeniable that a touchscreen is pretty good. All it took was a quick recalibration (the software that strange, is not preinstalled on the netbook, but it is the support of Dell’s web downloadable), and it worked like a charm. With fairly solid accuracy, I was able to navigate to web pages or pieces of typed text to delete to highlight it.

The flip side of the display: It’s so subdued that even after you put it on the brightest setting on a cloudy day, you squint to see what you want to enter. I should know – that’s what is happening to me right now as I write this review in a playground, reaquainting me with my inner child. The only fair, accurate comparison would be to see how well the 2100 will in addition to the Asus Eee PC T91. Unfortunately, it is hard to find model does not make much of a presence here in the United States. If all this sensitive speak of himself, for a simple screen and save a few dollars.

The touchpad feels almost microscopically my flesh gloves. Just looking at the small touch-zone makes me hurt my fingers. But to make an input device the size of the On the Toshiba NB205-310 would be much better than potentially causing children with carpal tunnel. The keyboard, at least, is just big enough, the main QWERTY keys feel good and have the default keyboard layout. Nothing fancy. The function keys are tiny, the volume control and mute huge – and that was it. If you are on the banks of keyboard shortcuts, look elsewhere.

Under the child’s appearance, the 2100 has a couple of other cool extras, namely, a webcam, the ability to upgrade from 802.11b/g to 802.11n, and Bluetooth. (An optical drive is of course an external option.)

Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook Review

Last but not least, let’s talk performance and battery life. The Latitude 2100 has a value of 34 in WorldBench 6 tests, just a hair below the average for Netbooks – nothing to panic about. As for battery life, survived the machine is approximately 6.5 hours (or only) to a full school day. It is perhaps not the longest lived around device, but it will work at least as long as the student is.

I would add that the 2100 was nice and quiet, but a little hot. I found that with prolonged use of the left lower quadrant warmed a little. The effect was nothing to complain about, but I remember it.

ASUS’ Pine Trail-based Eee PC 1005P spotted

ASUS' Pine Trail-based Eee PC 1005P spotted

A second group of Pine Trail Atom-based ASUS Eee PC netbooks was discovered, promising a major update to one of the cornerstones of the company’s netbooks.

Store listings and pictures of the 1005P and easily updated 1005PE show a system with the familiar thick “shell” form, but with improved chiclet-style buttons and a textured lid. A major upgrade of the inside should come with a 1.66 GHz Atom N450, which both accelerate the development and extend the battery life for a very long 12 hours.

Both the 1005P and 1005PE is a 10-inch display, 1GB of RAM, GMA 3150 shares integrated graphics and Windows 7 starters, but both hard drive and wireless options will separate the two. The P should cling to the familiar 160 GB hard drive, but the PE will increase to a larger 250 GB hard drive, and to complement the existing Wi-Fi with Bluetooth.

The new Eee PCs are in black-white-colored models of the ship and are on a UK distributor. It is believed that both her debut 11th January, only after CES.
