Asus UL30A Notebook Review

Asus says the UL30A The 8-cell battery lasts “up to 12 hours” with Windows 7, depending on use, as you. Set its Power4Gear software to reduce the battery savings plan, the brightness of the glossy 13.3in LED screen, turn off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, and you get more than 12 hours. Also, the use of Wi-Fi drains the power slowly, so I think you should get themselves to 10 hours. Frankly, I was looking for. For someone who is used with a laptop with a spare battery and charging even after use every day, it’s liberating.

The UL30 (from Unlimited) is one of this year’s “thin and light notebooks on Intel CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage)-based chips. The first models were the Timeline series and Acer MSI X340, and I tried an early UL30A originally installed Vista. Asus says that there are versions with 64-bit Windows-7 to take advantage of the 4 GB of RAM and a UL50 with a 15.6in screen.

The long battery life comes from the ultra-low-voltage 1.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (SU7300) processor, which is much faster than an atom chip, or a Core Solo (SU3500). On the Windows Experience Index, the base score is 3.9 for the Intel 4500MHD integrated graphics, but the processor (4.0), memory (4.8), gaming graphics (4.9) and disk (5, 6) all higher. It simply runs HD video on the 1366 x 768 widescreen.

Other features include a multi-touch touchpad, webcam, card slot, Ethernet, HDMI, and three USB ports. There are downward-facing twin Altec Lansing stereo speakers on the bottom. A top brushed aluminum protects the screen.

The biggest drawback is the keyboard layout. The “isolated keyboard” (well-separated flat keys) feels good, but has an extra column of keys on the right side of the big decline and the Enter key. I’ve always taken it by mistake. By 1.7 kg Also, the UL30A on the heavy side for a thin PC without a built-in DVD. The large battery makes it heavier than an MSI-X Slim X340 (1.33 kilograms) and Acer Timeline 3810 (1.6 kg), but you can get models with a 4-cell battery.

The UL30 is beautifully finished, feels sturdy, and also leads by ultraportable standards. If you can customize the keyboard layout, it is also worth considering.
