Limited edition Deanne Cheuk Inspiron Mini netbook

Limited edition Deanne Cheuk Inspiron Mini netbook

I personally am not a big fan of fashion over function netbooks, but there is obviously a market for them.

In the same direction as the Vivienne Tam Edition, we have seen is from HP, Dell is now offering a limited edition design by Deanne Cheuk. As far as the hardware goes, it’s pretty standard fare netbook.

  • Intel Atom Z530 with 1.6GHz
  • 1GB DDR2 memory
  • 160GB SATA HDD
  • Intel GMA 500
  • 10″ 1024×600 display
  • 802.11 b/g wireless
  • HDMI Output
  • 3-cell Li-Ion Battery
  • Windows 7 Starter

The machine will be limited to an edition of 5250 with each of these systems individually numbered. Find these babies only at Best Buy and at $ 379.99, at least, cheaper than the Vivienne Tam Designs price.

Somewhere in the space between the nuclear-fledged laptops and netbooks, there is a room for the HP Pavilion DM1. SU2300 with an Intel dual-core CPU under the hood, this ultra powerful enough to compete with chunkier notebooks, while thin and light enough to feel around like a netbook.

Netbooked has the hands to become one, and below is that the DM1 a decent machine and is competitive with other 11.6 “models like the Acer Aspire 1410 and Lenovo U150.

Out-of-the-box, was the dual-core SU2300 is able to handle 720p video on YouTube if 1080p playback was possible only with an upgrade to Flash Player 10.1.

Battery life from the 6-cell lithium-ion engine was after about 4 hours and 20 minutes in normal use and 3 hours and 13 minutes in a loop just decent 1080p video.

In the review, the DM1 loses points for the keyboard. Although a solid feel and provides good tactile response, the overall size is what you expect on a 10 “netbook would be found. Hey, I love the keyboards of the rule on netbooks from HP, but the extra width on its deck feels like a missed opportunity for something a bit more.

Netbooked also had a few problems with the touchpad and the DM1. Apart from stiff, noisy keys, it also has no support for gestures. That was a big disappointment for some users, there could be many smaller, less expensive models of multi-touch handle.
