Intel Atom N450 launching January 3rd

Intel Atom N450 launching January 3rd

It is not surprising that Intel has been working on its next-generation low-power Atom processor platform for a while. Now it looks like the company releasing the first Intel Atom Pine Trail-designed chip for netbooks early January. Fudzilla reports that the company, the 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N450, 3 January the launch goes.

The timing is appropriate, since that date falls only a few days before CES 2010, where I suspect we will see dozens if not hundreds of devices based next-generation of Intel’s Atom platform.

The Atom N450 will be able to integrate memory and graphics capabilities on a single chip, which help to use less electricity than nuclear N270/N280 chipsets on netbooks today.

Fudzilla also reports that the chip will use a graphics core called the GMA 3150th Previously we had heard that though the GMA 500 video chip.

The GMA 3150 graphics core found should offer slightly better performance than the GMA 950 graphics card in most netbooks today. But it’s strength is still in power conservation, not bleeding edge switching graphic arts applications.
