Toshiba relaunches Satellite Pro in UK with Windows 7

Toshiba Germany on Friday showed four new business notebooks in the Satellite Pro series, all with Windows 7 Professional installed. These include the 13.3-inch U500, the 15.6-inch L500, the 17.3-inch L550, 15.6-inch L450 and L450D same size.

Each includes Toshiba Space Life Application Suite for Windows-7-powered Toshiba notebooks, which helps users to organize their appointments and help them to see visually to 5000 most recently accessed files.

The Satellite Pro U500 comes with either a 2.2 GHz or 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, either with 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM. All variants use an Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics CJO [set, hard drive with capacities from 250 GB to 400 GB. All are equipped with DVD drives, webcams, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The three USB ports, the devices can for free, even when the notebook is turned off, and one of them serves as an eSATA port.

The Satellite Pro L500 is given the choice between two Intel Core 2 Duo processors, with the base of a 2GHz chip unit and the optional one being the same as in 2.53 CPU U500. All but the top range model, which is also an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650th have Intel’s integrated graphics. RAM ranges from 2 GB to 4 GB, while hard drives 160GB, 320GB and 400GB capacities included. As in the U500, there is Wi-Fi but no Bluetooth, and an HDMI connection. A memory card reader is integrated, as well as three USB ports, which in turn has eSATA support. A webcam is also part of the package.

The larger, 17.3-inch LED-backlit L550 comes in a model with a 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and 4 GB of RAM. The only option is a 400GB hard drive unit, and graphics are handled by ATI HD 4650 chipset. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, a card reader and the same three-port USB expansion are all similar to previous models.

The Satellite Pro L450 L450D may have with a 2GHz Celeron or Core 2 Duo CPU in the regular version or with a 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon X2 in the D model. Unlike the Radeon HD 3200 Graphics in the D-model rather than the integrated Intel graphics processor, other figures are almost identical. It is either 1GB, 2GB or 4GB of RAM and either 160 GB or 250 GB hard drive. As with other Satellite Pro models, there is a webcam, a microphone and three USB ports, with one doubling as an eSATA port. Wi-Fi and a card reader to come along yet.

All four new Toshiba notebooks will ship in late October.

Verizon Wireless announces Gateway LT2016u 3G netbook

Verizon Wireless has expanded its netbook lineup with the Gateway LT2016u, a 3G mobile broadband-enabled computer. The Windows XP-based device includes a wide range of functions, users should have access to serious computing power to go everywhere they go.

The netbook features an Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM and a 160 GB hard drive. The LT2016u’s 10.1-inch WXGA display with LED backlight should be lit, and Verizon to promise to 6 hours of battery life from the netbook.

In addition to the 3G data connectivity, WiFi technology provides access to high-speed local connections. The computer also has a multiple-format memory card reader, the SD, XD can read, and Memory Stick cards.
