Asus Ships Eee PC 1004DN In Taiwan

The Asus Eee PC 1004DN, which initially consisted of a bow at CES earlier this year has finally started to ship in Taiwan, but there is no word on whether it will be made available to those outside the country in the near future.

After conversion, the Eee PC is 1004DN for about $ 608, which is pretty expensive, even if you have the advantage that a fingerprint scanner for better security and a built in CD DVD burner.

They keep a watchful eye on the battery life but, as you surely do not want to end with a case of batteries during your trip, just because of over-burning of photos and films, before it becomes home.

It also has a few other elements such as HP and only 2 USB ports and a touchpad, which features left and right mouse button on the left and right sides of the PAD, rather than below, (though the HP Mini 5101 has a redesigned touchpad and 3 USB ports).

It is possible that the Zepto Znote V10A Netbook is a rebranded version of another, but I can not quite my finger on the model. The Netbook action 10 7 “x 7.4″ x 1.1 “, weighs 2.6 kilograms and has a 3350mAh battery.

Facial recognition on the Lenovo IdeaPad S12

Facial recognition on the Lenovo IdeaPad S12

I decided to face the software on Lenovo Ideapad S12 try this afternoon, and it seems to work very well. I was in a position to my face with the Windows utility by walking through the Setup program. If he scanned my face, I logged out of my computer and could only login to view the webcam. In fact, the computer recognizes my face, faster than I can reach for the keyboard to enter in my user’s password.

I have not had a chance to see if other people can fool the computer into thinking they told me they stared. But I log on while sitting in different positions, and any attempt worked. If I were in possession of images of other people before the computer tries to their faces, but not log on to Windows. I had a Seinfeld DVD Set nearby and apparently Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer look different enough from me that the computer is not fooled.

Lenovo even the same software on the IdeaPad S10 and Ideapad S10-2.

Elecom Travel Mouse Can Hide Its USB Cable

Elecom Travel Mouse Can Hide Its USB Cable

Due to its small size and even smaller receiver, I usually recommend Logitech VX Nano wireless mouse for travelers not thrilled with their laptop’s touchpad.

But there can be a bit expensive at times, so if you prefer to go with an affordable Corded model, the M-Elecom MK1UR features a handy rubber skirt, which can be lifted, allowing you to complete and store if the USB cable not in use.

Samsung Go Netbook

Samsung Go Netbook

LaptopMag the recent 10.1-inch Netbook that Samsung Go is also known as the Samsung N310. The Go offers a larger capacity 6-cell (8850mAh) battery, enough juice for up to 8.5 hours operating time. It is almost 30 minutes less than the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA, or an hour less than the Toshiba NB205. The price starts at $ 450, which is around 100 U.S. dollars more than the high-end ASUS Eee PC 1005HA. Here is a verdict.

With the Go, Samsung has one of the attractive 10-inch Netbook on the market. The compact construction and zestful, the fashion-conscious a well-rounded package. But the $ 449 price gives us pause. You can snatch the Editors’ Choice-winning Toshiba NB205 mini, a larger touchpad, and an even better endurance, for 50 dollars less. And for $ 50 more you can use the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (retail $ 499), a larger 12-inch display, but less stamina. Nevertheless, if a combo of style and a long maturity is at the top of the Mobile Computing-list, the Samsung is worth Go splurge.

Packard Bell Dot M/A performance tested

Packard Bell Dot M/A performance tested

The people on NetbookWereld have a detailed series of comments on the Packard Bell Dot M A Mini-Notebook (also known as a rebadged version of the Gateway LT3100). And as the Gateway version The Packard Bell M A is replaced by moderate ratings, at best.

The laptop has a 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and a L110 AMD Athlon 64-bit CPU. Moreover packs ATI Radeon X1270 graphics. After NetbookWereld, the battery will run for about 4 hours when surfing the Internet via WiFi, Bluetooth, streaming music, and keep the screen brightness to about 75%. It would not surprise me if you look at 4.5 to 5 hours, if you adjusted the settings a bit.

HD video playback is something to be desired. The evaluation team tried playing a movie and 720p playback was a bit choppy. The computer fan is supposedly pretty loud. But the drive was pretty fast and the touchpad supports 2-finger gestures, including zooming.

LG X120 Levi’s Edition

LG X120 Levi’s Edition

While some people are working on Netbook, which fold up and fit in your pocket, the LG X120 Levi’s Edition is not one of them. Rather, this computer is basically a standard LG X120 Netbook with two things that set it apart from the crowd:

  • It has Levi’s branding and the drawing of a jeans on the lid.
  • It comes with a denim-slip-cover, either from recycled jeans, or to see how it is made from recycled jeans.

I like the idea of the slip, and kind of hope that Levi’s, LG, or someone else decides to sell similar cases as a separate product. It would be especially cool if it actually is made of sturdy, but recycled blue jeans material (assuming that someone has the time to wash, said jeans, eliminating any odors from previous occupants).

But as for the Netbook itself? The only reason why I am for about one Netbook with an ad for a Clothing Company is emblazoned on the top is when the clothing company subsidized the cost of the Netbook. And while I have not seen any word on pricing, somehow I doubt that the Levi’s Edition is for sale less than the standard LG X120.
