Sony offers vein identification for laptops

Forget passwords and fingerprints. Sony is the laptop security to a new level with the new fingerprint system cores for laptops and mobile phones. The technology is not new-Hitachi has these products for one year, but this is the first time, a compact version has been made available for cell phones and laptops. Called “mofiria,” it will be a CMOS sensor, digitally captured light into the finger. Sony offers vein identification for laptops

“The vein pattern is recorded from the finger vein image and data from the specimen is compressed in size from one tenth to save,” said Sony in a statement.

Sony claims that the false rejection is less than 0.1 percent and the processing is only 0015 seconds for a laptop, and 0.25 seconds for a mobile phone. However, the question is how many people will remain. So far, most of us still on simple passwords.
