EMTEC to introduce the Gdium at CES 2009
We are very excited about CES 2009, and you, the reader will hear much about them this week. Here is a small preview of one of the many products that will be displayed on the screen: The Gdium of EMTEC.
The Gdium is a completely open-source portable computers, and comes with applications such as Firefox, Thunderbird, VoIP, a blog editor, video audio player, and Open Office suite applications. A user who has a Gdium has full access to a site, only for him. This site has a social networking program as well as e-mail devices, forums and blogs.
The Gdium also lower energy consumption with a MIPS-64-chip from ST Microelectronics, based on an optimized Mandriva Linux OS. In addition, there is a G-key, “allows users to store their data and applications on a USB flash drive and not to get something on the actual machine.”
The EMTEC Gdium has a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 600 resolution, and small enough to be called “Netbook”.
