A couple of Intel engineers managed to boot time of the Asus Eee PC with just 5 seconds, with the Fedora desktop ready in the starting blocks and during that time. The secret to their success? Remove from various boot elements considered dead weight Netbook for users as well as recurring features, with the coronation of a special patch enabled read-ahead operations based on a modified version of Fedora ReadAhead. That alone allows multiple functions to run simultaneously, instead of in the order.
